New Unc0ver Jailbreak For iOS 12-12.1.2 Support for A12-A12X, and 2018 iPads

The last Unc0ver jailbreak tool was released last month for iPhones and iPads that run iOS 12, 12.1.1 beta 3, and iOS 12.1.2, and iPhone/iPad users were able to enjoy the jailbreak on their phones. Now thanks to the dev team at Unc0ver, more iPhones can get the jailbreak.

Unc0ver Jailbreak for iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPad Pros (2018)

The jailbreak tool only worked for devices that had A8X up to A11 processors. This means that the iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR, and the 2018 iPad Pros couldn’t use the Unc0ver tool, until now.

The latest update from Developer @pwn20wnd on Twitter tells us about the Unc0ver v3.0.0 public beta 44 which has ‘partial’ support for the A12 and A12X devices. This means all the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, as well as all the iPad Pro models powered by A12,  will be supported by the tool very soon.

The public beta comes with more than partial support for these devices. It also comes with a beta 45 for public testing, adding a fix for the voucher_swap exploit. The new beta version of Unc0ver jailbreak tool can be found on GitHub. Bear in mind that this is a beta version so it can have bugs and you may experience some issues. The tool is mainly released for developers or for those that want to risk jailbreaking their devices.

Developers might want access to this tool to create or optimize jailbreak tweaks for iOS 12. They will have access to the root filesystem on A12 and A12X devices with the Unc0ver v3.0.0 public beta 44.

Partial Support – What Does It Mean?

If you were wondering what ‘partial support’ means, then you must know that the tool works on the iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR or the iPad Pros, you can install it, but you can’t tweak the devices because it doesn’t support Cydia. You won’t be able to install jailbreak tweaks from Cydia, and Saurik hasn’t yet stated if or when they will add Cydia support for the latest devices.

Public users will only benefit from the version after it gets support from Cydia. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this in the coming days.

iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 Unc0ver Jailbreak New Leaks

The @pwn20wnd team has finally released, after working on its development for months, the 31 unc0ver 3.0.0. With that being said, it means that you can finally install the  unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 on your compatible iOS device. One great advantage would be that it offers Substrate and Cydia compatibility. Unfortunately only if you are an owner of an iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 7 you can use this jailbreak tool as it only supports A8X-A11 powered iOS devices.

If keeping an eye on the news is part of your to-do list, it means that you already know that A12 support will also be added for iOS devices powered by this processor in the unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2. Unfortunately, at the moment, only users of A8X through A11 chips-powered iOS devices can benefit from this tool.

As we mentioned previously in this article, you now have the possibility to download the latest IPA of unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2. It ensures a stable jailbreak experience thanks to its Substrate and Cydia support. The fluidity and stability of the jailbreak look like what the team is mostly focused on this time around. The unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 will soon be extended to additional devices so keep checking that news.

This tool is only available in the beta version, but it does not mean you can’t take advantage of what it offers. If your iOS device is compatible with it, you can jailbreak it using this tool. However, you should downgrade to the iOS 12.1.1 beta 3 in case you have the latest firmware from Apple on your device. Otherwise, it will not work the way you expect it to.

Jailbreaking iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 Using Siri

If you are a jailbreaking fan, it means that you have been waiting for the Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2. While its release is not too far from happening, more details on it are being shared on the internet. It is still in development change, but it did not stop a developer from the team to publish a teaser video on Reddit pf the jailbreak on their iPhone X. What might surprise you when you watch that video is the fact that Siri and Siri’s Shortcuts were used by the developer to initiate the Unc0ver jailbreak.

More details – understand this better

As you have read above, a video was posted by a developer from the Unc0ver jailbreak team on Reddit which shows how in order to jailbreak iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 he makes use of Siri. The Unc0ver app begins running through the vulnerabilities after the Siri Shortcuts hotword is said. The iPhone then restarts with Cydia installed after some time. One thing that you should keep in mind is the fact that this jailbreaking tool is still in the process of being tested, which means that it is recommendable that you wait for the public release. It will happen very soon.

Unfortunately, no A12 Bionic processor support will be included when the Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 will be released, which means that using this tool you will not be able to jailbreak the new iPad Pro models, the iPhone XS Max, the iPhone XS or the iPhone XR. Maybe that will be added by the developers in the future.

If you are planning to install the Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2, make sure that you do not upgrade your iOS device to Apple’s latest firmware update.

A Basic iOS 12 Jailbreak Exploit is now Available

The jailbreak community was severely discouraged by the introduction of iOS 12. Apple was against jailbreak since day one and the company continues to boost the security of the OS with each major update.  The company argues that the act of jailbreaking a device will make it vulnerable to malicious attacks and users that opt to jailbreak their device will have their warranty revoked if they are caught.

The release of a developer-only jailbreak solution brought some much needed hope. Rootless JB tool is currently working on several iPhones but the solution comes with a variety of bug and is unfit for public use.

Tihmstar, a well-known contributor of the jailbreak community, has released its first iOS 12 vintex exploit.  The developer tested the jailbreak on an iPhone 6 that runs iOS 12.1.2 noting that some improvements can be made to the code. Those that wish to try it are free to do so but they should keep in mind that the solution was tested on a single device. Some developers have already tried to adapt the jailbreak for other iPhone models and it seems that there is a lot of work to be done until a stable version will be available.

Rootless JB is the only jailbreak tool that is currently compatible iOS 12 and able to run on a large selection of devices, starting with the iPhone 6S and up to the iPhone X.  As previously mentioned, this tool is aimed at developers and it is unable to grant root access or package manager functionality.

Some Apple fans condemn the use of jailbreak solution, accusing the jailbreaking community of piracy and ill-use of Apple’s intellectual property. Despite Apple’s protest jailbreak is legal, since the Library of Congress added an exemption to the DMCA which notes that iPhone owners are allowed to jailbreak their devices if they wish to do so. That exception was recently extended and now includes iPads.

It is likely that a stable jailbreak solution will surface in the following months.

iOS 12 – 12.1.2 RootlessJB 3.0 Jailbreak Available for Limited Devices

If you are part of the jailbreak community, we have some great news for you! Jake James, the web, iOS and tweak developer (@Jakeshacks) has finally put an end to our waiting and released a jailbreak tool with the name of RootlessJB 3.0. Limited devices support this jailbreak, and only developers can use it.

The news

James announced over the weekend via Twitter that the RootlessJB 3.0 will soon be released. The tool offers initial support for A11, A10, and A9 devices that run iOS 12.0 to iOS 12.1.2.

If you take a look at what James twitted, no code and tweaks injections are included in his new tool yet. Aside from that, via dropbear, it spawns SHH.

As it does not offer package manager installation in the form of Sileo or Cydia, you should keep in mind that this is not a standard jailbreak that the public domain can take advantage of especially because it requires you to use SSH and dropbear to install the program.

Are A12 devices left out?

James said that he is also working on the A12 support that jailbreakers had asked for and that soon enough their wishes will come true. This will be followed by support for A8 and A7 devices once there is an exploit.

How is RootlessJB3.0 doing at the moment

Since RootlessJB 3.0 was releases, James has tweeted a lot of updates. The recent one was announced not too much time ago by James who provided a video that shows people what the RootlessJB 3.0 is capable of. The footage comes from Sammy Guichelaar (@SammyGuichelaar), and it practically proves how successful James’ tool is. If you want to try it yourself, you can do so, but you should still keep in mind that it is not in its final form yet.
