iPhone SE Is Again Available And You Can Purchase It For A Low Price

The iPhone SE managed to become one of the most popular iPhones, as surprising as this might be. That is why all users were disappointed when Apple decided to remove the model from its store once the iPhone XS and iPhone XR were announced.

iPhone SE is once again available for purchase at a low price

However, we have some excellent news for all iPhone SE fans. It appears that Apple decided to sell this model once again. More than that, the price for the handset is very low, and you can purchase it for as little as $250. However, it is very likely that these are the last iPhone SE and Apple is finally putting them on clearance. Therefore, if you want to get an iPhone SE, you would better hurry.

We do not know yet whether Apple plans to continue the SE lineup. Many users would love that, but no announcements were made so far. Apple will have an event this month, but a new phone announcement is not expected.

Why are the iPhones SE so popular?

The iPhone SE continues to have a strong fanbase for two main reasons: its price and its size. It is no secret that iPhones have become more and more expensive. The iPhone SE was accessible, and it had all the necessary features an Apple user could need.

The second element is the size. Smartphones have become larger in the past years, and it appears that this trend is going to evolve even more, as several phone manufacturers are planning to launch phones with a foldable screen. However, there are still users that prefer smaller devices, because it is a lot simpler to use them and carry them with you. The iPhone SE was such a device, and it represented a great alternative.

iPhone SE Is Again Available on Apple’s Online Store

Silently, Apple revived its iPhone SE smartphone. The small, 4-inch Apple smartphone, iPhone SE, surprised with its appearance on the Cupertino-based company’s online retail outlet’s clearance section, that after Apple retired the device in 2018.

iPhone SE Technical Specs

iPhone SE rolled out in 2016 for $349 and $449 for the 32 Gigabyte and 128GB model, respectively, but Apple stopped selling the smartphone last year. Luckily for the small device’s fans, iPhone SE made its comeback to Apple’s online store where it costs only $249 and $299 or the 32 Gigabyte and 128GB version, respectively.

iPhone SE boasts a 4-inch display, while, under the hood, it comes with an A9 chipset. Thus, it is less performant than iPhone 7, for example, which comes with a 4.7-inch display and A10 Fusion CPU. However, iPhone SE has a lot of fans who would love to own a smaller smartphone.

Besides, iPhone SE boasts 2 Gb of RAM, 32 Gb or 128 Gb of internal memory, a 12-megapixel main camera, a 1.2-mp selfie camera with face detection, and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front side of the device. As for the connectivity, iPhone SE comes with 4G, USB 2.0 Lightning Connector, and 3.5-mm headphone jack.

Why Did Apple Resurrect iPhone SE on Its Online Store?

While Apple did not reveal why it chose to restart iPhone SE sales, according to Digital Trends, the Cupertino-based company made that move to clear out any inventory it had and boost the overall sales. Apparently, Tim Cook confirmed, in a letter to investors, that Apple is now selling below the expected level, and the predictions for Q1 2019 sales are also gloomy.

Even though the statistics show that the interest in smaller smartphones like iPhone SE dropped significantly in 2018 in comparison to 2016 and 2017, there are many iPhone SE fans out there. Plus, iPhone SE’s A9 chipset is still very capable, so iPhone SE is not as outdated as it may look at first glance.

iPhone SE Might be Discontinued – What’s Next?

iPhone SE (an iPhone 5s which iPhone 6 features) was introduced in March 2016 by Apple. It aimed to be a budget iPhone that could be afford and bought by more customers. Also, some Apple lovers at that time asked for a smaller screen smartphone.

However, Apple might discontinue it because there is no next model in plan and if that is the case of a “limited edition” phone, let’s see why.

Bigger is better

Customers have changed their preferences regarding the size or their phone, and one proof of that was Apple’s significant increase in revenue after introducing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2015.

Luca Maestri, Apple CFO said regarding company’s October 2016 earnings conference call that “worldwide demand for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has significantly outpaced supply, particularly on iPhone 7 Plus.”

Then, a year later, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said regarding company’s November 2017 earnings call that the iPhone 8 Plus had “gotten off to the fastest start of any Plus model.”

“That for us was a bit of a surprise, and a positive surprise,” Cook said.

Furthermore, Apple’s iPhone X (having a larger display than the iPhone 8) is proving to be Apple’s best-selling iPhone model.

“And customers chose iPhone X more than any other iPhone each week in the March quarter, just as they did following its launch in the December quarter,” Cook said regarding company’s earnings conference call of May.

Not budget customers’ choice

Another reason why iPhone SE was introduced was to enable iPhone-wanting people to buy one by reducing the cost of production and automatically decrease the price of the device.

Apple also took into consideration the competition (Android offering low-cost and big-screened phones with average internal features), but iPhone SE just can’t please everybody.

Investor takeaway

iPhone SE’s discontinuation might upset some customers, but it will be for a better future of the bigger screen phones.

At least now we know why Apple would take that risk to make such a decision.
