Netflix Vs. Disney Plus – Would Disney Plus Dethrone Netflix

Netflix is without a doubt the most iconic streaming service, but a new competitor aims to take a piece of the pie. Some will say you could subscribe to both, but the decision could be quite expensive in the long run. We know that Disney Plus will be released in November 2019, but there is enough information available to make a succinct comparison between the two services. Read below to learn more.

Netflix vs. Disney Plus – Which one seems better?

The content selection

This is the prime criteria for many users since many want to watch their favorite shows. Netflix offers a rich selection of movies, TV series, and TV shows. Disney Plus will start with a selection of more than 400 hundred movies and 7,000 TV episodes. A large focus is placed on exclusive content, and Disney will offer the entire Star Wars saga in the less than a year. They will be joined by the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and various content produced by Fox, including the Simpsons.

Exclusive series, among each we can count WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier and other unnamed series appear to be quite interesting. Netflix is also keen on exclusive titles, and it already has titles like Black Mirror and Stranger Things.

The price tag

Netflix may have a bigger vault of content, but the price is considerably steeper. Disney Plus comes with a $7 (or $70 per year), but it is likely that the price will increase. It is known that users will be able to create distinct profiles and a 4K UHD streaming option for no additional cost.

The Basic Netflix plan costs, but it includes a single SD stream. Standard offers two simultaneous streams and HD resolution for $13. The third and last tier is premium, packing four simultaneous streams and UHD resolution in exchange for $16.

Compatible devices

Netflix works across a variety of devices. It is likely that Disney will try to do the same but until the service is released compatible platforms remain shrouded in mystery.

Conclusions

Disney Plus is shaping up to be a serious contender for Netflix, but it remains to be seen if it will manage to reach the same levels of popularity.

Disney+ Streaming Service To Launch In November To Compete With Netflix and Amazon Prime

A number of companies such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have been walking into the growing streaming service industry over the past years in order to obtain massive audiences. The growth of the streaming industry has many factors backing it, which includes smartphones and the internet lowering its prices and the expansion of streaming apps to different devices. The next company to take advantage of the streaming service industry is Disney with its upcoming Disney+ platform.

Disney CEO Robert Iger shared on the Social Media platform a photo of the upcoming app, Disney+. The photo doesn’t show much about the app but it reveals its interface. The app has various categories, each representing a Disney franchise, like Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic and Disney itself. We can also see from the picture that the app has a ‘recommended for you’ and ‘continue watching’ tab in the interface.

Disney+ will be available on the web, browsers, smartphones, smart TVs, tablets as well as game consoles, same as the other well-known streaming services.

Disney+ to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime starting with November this year

A deal for a PS4 version of the app has been made with Roku and Sony and it will support a multiplex of user accounts, offline viewing, and 4K HDR, Macrumors recently reported.

Disney+ will posture some severe competition to other streaming services as it will hold a lot of exclusive content, and will also deliver new TV shows ahead of the curve in its service. Numerous TV shows have already been announced, such as “Falcon & Winter Soldier”, and “WandaVision”, both based on Marvel characters. Another TV show based on Monters.inc, one other based on “High School Musical”, a Frozen 2 documentary, a Star Wars series, a live-action adaptation of “Lady and the Tramp”, two other projects starring Marvel characters Loki and Hawkeye, and so much more.

Macrumors added that all Pixar content will be available on Disney+ within the first year of release, also all Pixar’s theatrical shorts and all Star Wars films. The streaming service will be launched on November 12, 2019, having a monthly and annual subscription at the price of $6.99 and $69.99.

Netflix To Get A New Rival As The Apple Streaming Service Might Get Official Announcement In March

Apple will hold an event in March during which the company plans to present some of its products and discuss the company’s future plans. According to some sources cited by Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based company would also reveal the so-called Apple streaming service in March to rival with Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Besides, what we know so far is that Apple would most likely launch another subscription-based product, a sort of news service. At least, that’s what BuzzFeed News reported. As for Apple’s subscription-based streaming service, Bloomberg noted that “the video service is similar to Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime Video and Netflix Inc. products, and will include TV shows and movies either acquired or funded by Apple. The company has created dozens of original programs so far but hasn’t wrapped them in a subscription yet. The paid service will launch by the summer, the people said. They asked not to be identified discussing private plans.”

The upcoming Apple streaming service would rival Netflix, directly

Bloomberg also added that the future Apple streaming service would also offer some free content (maybe Apple’s original TV series and movies), but the clients would have to pay to access the productions of other providers. However, we shouldn’t expect the streaming service to go live soon after the event, as Bloomberg said. The platform would become available in summer, according to some sources close to Apple.

As for other products of the Cupertino-based company, we don’t expect to see any of them launched during the upcoming March event Apple will hold. Thus, iPad Mini 5 and AirPods 2 are not going to roll out during Apple’s conference next month. In other news, however, it seems that Apple has sent invitations to some Hollywood stars, including Jeniffer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, JJ Abrams, and Jennifer Garner, so the tech giant might indeed focus on the subscription-based Apple streaming service to rival Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Netflix 6.24.0 Build 2 31642 Rolled Out on Android With Some Improvements

Netflix is, at the moment, the most popular streaming service. With Netflix, we can watch full-length movies, TV series, documentaries, and more. Netflix app on Android, for example, totals more than 500 million downloads, proving the popularity of the streaming service on mobiles. Now, Netflix 6.24.0 Build 2 31642 rolled out on Android with several improvements.

Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph founded Netflix in 1997, and in 1998 it became the world’s first online DVD rental store. In 2000, when Netflix totaled 300,000 subscribers, Netflix’s founders declined a $50 million offer from Blockbuster, its rival at that time. In 2001, however, Netflix experienced massive growth, but the “dot-com bubble” burst and the September 11 WTC terrorist attacks affected the company in late-2001.

Fast forwarding, in 2007, Netflix moved from its core business, which was selling and renting DVDs, to offering videos on demand over the Internet, a business model quite similar to what the service is providing nowadays. By January 2013, Netflix totaled 29 million subscribers worldwide, but 27 million of them were US-based. Netflix started to expand globally and support other platforms, as well, thanks to the increased popularity of mobile devices.

Netflix 6.24.0 Build 2 31642 Rolled Out on Android With Some Improvements

Back on the Netflix app, Netflix streaming service is now the most popular streaming service on Android and iOS, totaling over 500 million users, worldwide on mobile platforms. Today, Netflix 6.24.0 Build 2 31642 rolled out on Android. The new version of the Netflix app on Android is not bringing any visual changes, but some enhancements under the hood.

“Someone eyeing your Netflix app on the bus? Make sure it’s the latest and greatest. Get the update for our best experience yet. No matter your mood – we’ve got options. In this version, we made player improvements to make watching them [videos] even better,” Netflix said in the Netflix 6.24.0 Build 2 31642 release notes.

“We’re working on the app experience. You work on what, when, and how you watch next. That’s equally as important,” Netflix added.
