OnePlus 5 and 5T Receive First Stable Android Pie Update With OxygenOS 9.0.0

OnePlus is renowned for being the most developer-friendly Android OEMs, and some users even reported that OxygenOS is a much better solution than Android stock version, as it comes out with many more features and performance enhancements. Now, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T receive first stable Android Pie update with OxygenOS 9.0.0.

Until now, OnePlus launched a couple of open beta Android Pie updates for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. However, now, OnePlus launched the first stable Android Pie update covered with OxygenOS 9.0.0. The first impressive change the new Android Pie version boasts is the reimagined user interface which presents a lot of UI refinements.

OnePlus, however, brings even more UI changes over those already implemented by Google in the Android 9 Pie version, and all that thanks to OxygenOS 9.0.0 which added even more changes to the aesthetic side of the system. Besides, the OxygenOS 9.0.0 for the OnePlus 5 and 5T brings in the  December security patches and many performance enhancements.

As OnePlus usually does, the new update will be rolled out to a small number of OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users, at first, to avoid the risk of sending an unstable build. In just a few days, however, the Chinese manufacturer will commence a broader release of the new update.

OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T Comes with New OxygenOS Beta: What Are The Changes?

OnePlus is a member of a select group of OEM developers that received access to the Android Pie beta. It was clear from the start that Android P will be offered on OnePlus devices.

An Android P update was first released for the OnePlus 6 and 6T but older devices are still running an earlier version of the operating system.

A new OxygenOS open beta that includes Android Pie has been made available for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The previously released HydrogenOS beta update also included Android Pie but the release was limited to OnePlus 5 and 5T devices owned by Chinese customers.

The OxygenOS is an international variant that is made for all the users around the globe.  The update will bring a variety of new features and functions. Read below for a short list of highlights.

  1. System changes

The system has been updated to Android 9.0 Pie.

The revamped UI has been added.

OnePlus 5T will now offer support for the new navigation gestures feature.

A variety of under the hood fixes will improve overall performance and battery management.

  1. New Do not Disturb Mode

The update adds a new Do Not Disturb mode that can be customized according to your needs.

  1. Communication improvements

The UI has been revamped in order to allow users to quickly reach and call contacts.

Users will be able to assign a specific contact or group of contacts to a specific SIM cards. This is a great quality of life improvement for dual SIM users.

  1. New apps were added to Parallel apps

The update adds parallel apps support for Telegram, Uber, OLA and many other apps.

  1. Revamped Weather widget

The weather will be updated according to your location.

The search option will offer extra suggestions.

Two major bugs that occurred when the location was changed or blocked users from finding certain locations have been fixed.

It is thought that a stable update will be released in the following months.
