PlayStation 5 to Use AMD’s Navi GPU, the Zen CPU – Amazing New Changes

You read that right! AMD has designed its Navi graphics architecture (GPU) to be mainly used in PlayStation 5, as “industry sources” talked to the Forbes. This anonymous source also stated that for the next-gen console, they would use the AMD’s Zen, which was the CPU that was used in the Ryzen brand gaming desktops.

We don’t really know much about the AMD’s Navi, but what we know so far is that it will use the 7nm process. Some gossips say that it was created to be used primarily in PlayStation 5. Just as the source said, two-thirds of the staff which was working on the Radeon RX Vega (and also other projects) were redirected to work on the Navi, thing that led to the RX Vega launch. This was not welcomed very well by Raja Koduri, who is the head of Radeon Technologies Group.

About the next-gen consoles from Sony

There’s not a word from Sony with regards to the next-gen consoles. After the event which took place earlier this month, with E3, some people started to think about whether Sony really has some new hardware to reveal or not. This happened after Shawn Layden, who is the chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios made an announcement in May on the PlayStation Blogcast. He merely said that they’re going to focus on their content (which is probably going to be awesome), but there will be no new hardware announcement at E3 this year.

We can be sure of one thing though: E3 2018 gave some details about Sony’s still-unshared titles, for example, “The Last of Us Part II” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man”. However, no one heard anything about PlayStation 5.

Phil Spencer, from Microsoft, however, said in an announcement that they are actually working on the next generation of consoles. In plural. More than one console.
There’s still a year until the E3 2019, so it’s still plenty of time for Sony to give us some details about the PlayStation 5. As you probably remember, Sony didn’t want to announce the PlayStation 4 at E3 2013, so this put even more pressure on the fact that we have some time to wait until the big reveal. From where we’re standing, the PlayStation 5 will probably not make its appearance sometime earlier than 2019 or even 2020.

However, the Interactive Entertainment CEO from Sony, John Kodera, said in a statement from May that we should prepare our goodbyes, as the PlayStation 4 has entered the final stage of its life.

Playstation 5 Release Date for 21 is Doubtful

Rumors about launching the next generation of PlayStation in 2018 or 2019 are not true, the product might be released in 2021, unfortunately.

The next generation console will be based on CPU and AMD GPU technology, it will have more RAM and more storage than PS4, that’s easy to predict. To materialize the future PlayStation 5, Sony seems to continue to work with AMD and will opt for an AMD Navi graphics chipset in tandem with an AMD Zen processor. It would also integrate the onboard VR hardware and not put as many components on the VR helmet itself.

The 2021 release is still doubtful

While others suggest that 2019 could be a good year to launch the console, Sony seems to want a release in 2021. Sources point out that this date of 2021 is not entirely fixed, because it is such a big project, and programs can change a lot. Moreover, not even the vast majority of game developers would have been informed about the launch of the future PlayStation 5.

Working on other projects

Studios are currently working on the appearance of PlayStation 4. The chances are therefore very small for the PlayStation 5 to be launched before 2021 as it has to be able to handle some games available.

It’s important to note that Sony will not take out PlayStation 4 now or in the near future, of course. The system is still selling well and there are plenty of exclusive titles for it. If last year 19 million consoles were sold, the forecast for this year is only 16 million units, and the downward trend will most likely continue, but people still buy it.

Regarding the future of the PlayStation 5, it is expected to have a slightly changed design and a hardware that will take the most consuming games.

Are PS5 and Xbox 2 Going to Be Released in 2020?

On the off chance that you intend to purchase an Xbox or PlayStation, you might need to reevaluate your choice. No, it’s not on account of a superior alternative accessible from a third maker, rather this is a direct result of the new consoles (Xbox or a PlayStation) coming. Indeed, both Microsoft and Sony plan to release new consoles (Xbox 2 and PS5) in under two years. In any case, a particular PS5 and Xbox 2 release date aren’t yet known.

About the release date

Experts trust that the PS5 and Xbox 2 release date would be at some point in 2020. In spite of the fact that a current talk indicated that the PS5 would come for the current year itself, it won’t be valid as the gaming business, to a great extent, trusts that the PS5 would arrive at some point in 2020. Likewise, trusted examiner Michael Pachter disclosed to Gamingbolt that a PS5 and Xbox 2 release date would be at some point in 2020. So we’re also on the same boat, the 2020 one.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot likewise said that the PS5 and Xbox 2 release date would be someplace in late 2019. Amid an investor call in November 2017, Guillemot stated that as Sony propelled the [PlayStation 4 Pro] a year ago and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, they think they have at least two years before something new is coming. However, Guillemot conceded this is only their “recognition,” and they don’t have any “secret data” on the PS5 and Xbox 2 release date.

Further, Sony itself has given a clue that its next console would hit the market in 2020. As of late, Shawn Layden, executive of Sony Worldwide Studios, said that the Japanese company wouldn’t uncover any equipment amid its E3 2018 press event, rather will center altogether around the games. This could imply that the company could prod its next console at E3 2019, trailed by a release a year later.
