Red Dead Online Will Receive a Major Update This Spring

Red Dead Redemption 2 was one of the most popular games of 2018, and it seems that Rockstar plans to make it even better. The online component of the game, Red Dead Online, is still in beta, but Rockstar is working on a beefy update which should improve the gameplay experience.

The significant update should arrive this spring, but an exact date is not available at this point. A few smaller updates added some cosmetic icons and the chance to collect a new Care Package.

Some hope that the update will arrive in May, but Rockstar was intentionally vague as the studio doesn’t want to deliver a rushed update. At this point a delay is unlikely, but several sources claim that Rockstar is focused on the development of a new title.

Red Dead Online to receive a significant update this spring

The rumor is based on a post which appeared on a popular platform in December 2018. The author was an unnamed member of a video games studio, and he claimed that the upcoming console would be released in 2020 and GTA 6 is one of the launch titles. Even if the source is questionable, a few fans were disappointed.

Their sadness comes from the fact that the next GTA is likely to ship with its dedicated multiplayer mode, which could be more popular than Red Dead Online and GTA Online. The same fear was felt by GTA Online players when Rockstar announced Red Dead Online since they believed that the publisher would focus on adding new features to the other game.

When it comes to content, the Red Dead Online update appears to be quite substantial. Rockstar noted that the update would include new missions where the players will continue to help Jessica LeClerk as she seeks vengeance. New Free Roam missions will also be available, and it is thought that a few characters from the single-player mode will make an appearance. More dynamic events were mentioned, including ambushes, rescues and other objectives.

Rockstar Revealed Huge Gameplay Update on Red Dead Redemption 2

Ahead of the October 26th launch, Rockstar has just revealed huge gameplay update on Red Ded Redemption 2 and presented some valuable information on the in-game weapons. Accordingly, Red Dead Redemption 2 would pack more than 50 weapons and tons of personalization options.

Red Dead Redemption 2 to boast more realistic weapons

“There are over 50 unique, usable weapons, a massive range of options for customization, and a wide selection of different ammunition types to improve accuracy, range or damage,” said Rockstar representative in a blog post.

Also, Rockstar revealed that the devs boosted the realism regarding the weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2. Accordingly, “the more a gun is used, the better it will perform, but it will also start to degrade over time if not looked after, so a trusty sidearm needs to be kept oiled and clean,” as the studio said.

Furthermore, there would be tons of personalization options for weapons. According to Rockstar, “with a myriad of customization options ranging from visual upgrades like new metals, woods, varnishes, and engravings to performance upgrades like new barrels, grips, sights, and scopes, you can design an entirely unique weapon that looks and handles exactly the way you want it to.”

Rockstar added over 50 weapons to Red Dead Redemption 2, each with its own characteristics

“Every weapon’s performance varies in terms of damage, range, fire rate, accuracy and reload speed, so it’s important to pick wisely depending on the situation,” Rockstar said. Also, Rockstar offered some tips regarding how to use weapons depending on their own characteristics. Accordingly, they also talked about Double-Action Revolver.

“The high fire rate of a Double-Action Revolver lends itself well to shooting on the move from horseback,” Rockstar stated.

“When faced with just one or two enemies, you might want to go for a Springfield Rifle which has a slower fire rate but delivers much higher damage. For range, a sniper rifle of some kind is obviously a good choice, but scopes can also be fitted to all other types of rifle enabling you to switch between regular view and scope view at any time,” the studio added.

Rockstar will keep both GTA and Red Dead Redemption Online Modes Updated

GTA Online remains one of the most popular modes and Red Dead Redemption fill feature an online component called Red Dead Online. As the launch approaches some fans worried that Rockstar will not be able to regularly update two different online games regularly, and they fear that focus will be shifted on Red Dead Online.

In a recent interview, a high ranking Rockstar North director assured fans that that will not be the case. The developer still plans to support GTA Online for a long time, and updates will still come. In order to keep up, Rockstar to alternate DLC release for the two games, so you will be able to jump into fresh Red Dead online content while DLC for GTA is developed and vice versa.  This is an ideal case, and the plan may not always work, but for now the solution seems feasible.

Red Dead Online still remains a history as the studio wishes to keep it secret until it launches later in November. All we know it that it should be a significant improvement over the previous multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption and as Rockstar learned from some GTA Online blunders the experience is set to be more polished. Some sources claim that the online experience will include narrative missions, something that was demanded by GTA Online fans several times.

A large questions remains when it comes to monetization, as 2K has clearly outlined its gaming-as-a-service policy earlier this year, leading many to believe that Red Dead Online will also feature some equivalent of the well-known shark cards. While the shark cards are a safe way to exchange real-world money to currency in order to buy a coveted item, many players have said that they ruin the experience for new players, as progress is slow and they are more vulnerable into buying them.

It remains to be seen if Red Dead Redemption will survive the hype after the game releases later in October.
