Will Saints Row 5 See the Light of Day?

Saints Row is a long-running open-world franchise that is loved by millions of fans. The series began as yet another GTA clone but from the very start it worked hard to showcase a distinct experience and exclusive features. Most players became familiar with the series when Saints Row 2 was released across several platforms. A catchy story, good gunplay and creative side activities made the franchise popular.

After the fourth entry in the series was released many fans believed that the developer forgot what made the game special sales numbers may have not been that great.

Deep Silver and Volition experimented with a spin-off title called Agents of Mayhem that takes part in an alternate Saints Row universe. The title failed to impress critics and fans and the sales may have prompted Deep Silver, the current publisher of the series, to discontinue future projects at least for a while.

Volition, the developer, has remained silent on the subject. Many believe that the studio is still haunted by the mediocre impact of Saints Row 4, developed when THQ, the former publisher, went bankrupt.

Deep Silver also hyped Agents of Mayhem, making it look like the next big title in the franchise but the ties with the original Saints Row are very weak. This correlated with poor sales puts a lot of pressure on Volition since another botched title could mean that the studio will be closed.

Volition hasn’t developed a Saints Row title since the stand-alone Gat Out of Hell expansion which was released back in 2015. The lack of a comprehensive story mode doomed the spin-off and further reduced the enthusiasm for another Saints Row.

There is still hope that Saints Row 5 may be in development but the project is kept secret until something impressive can be shown.  The Saints Row community is still active and asking for a new title and Deep Silver may decide to allow Volition to make another title before GTA 6 hits the scene.

One of those controversial games is Saint Row 5. Nobody knows if this game will ever come, let alone some details about its features. Developers won’t say anything about this game, so we can’t be sure if they are planning to release it. Their decision could be determined by some setbacks experienced by the developing company during the last few years.

If it comes, Saint Row 5 might be a multiplayer game

Everything we’ve heard so far about Saint Row 5 is based on speculations and rumours. However, we could try to make some predictions based on previous versions of the game. As we know, the first parts of Saint Row have been based on single-player mode.

On the other hand, fans have always been asking for multiplayer possibilities. If Volition takes their feedback into consideration, chances are that they will release the Saint Row 5 with this improvement. In addition, the new version of the game could offer players the possibility to make microtransactions. Thus, fans could enjoy a good in-game customization.

The title and release date arise other controversy. Since nobody can provide any leaks on the Saints Row 5, fans are getting anxious to learn more information. During the last months the game has been under more attention than before.

This makes people think that developers are finally working on it, especially since the series’ main writer joined the Volition team again. If the game is ever released, we might hear more about it soon.

Saints Row 5: What We Know So Far About the Game

We’ve all heard those rumors that said that Saints Row 5 would not make its appearance soon. There were many speculations that the game has its sales, if we were to take a look at its predecessor, Volition has something to say about that status.

It’s a clear thing that the franchise got positive reviews. It was said to be the close competitor of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. However, the performance of Saints Row 4 was not expected, even if we are to take into account the amazing sales results from the first week of release.

Is there something that can affect the release of the game?

The answer is yes, there are some issues, such as the fact that the producer of Saints Row, who’s Jim Boone left the company in 2017, so he won’t be a part of the Saints Row 5. However, he did reunite with the team, so maybe the release is real and will happen soon?

Are they going to improve the game?

The previous games didn’t really have a good in-game customization option. So the suggestions that an improvement should happen appeared fast. It’s true; it will make the experience of the player better.

So when is it going to be released?

It’s been hard for the game in the past years. However, this was never a serious issue when they wanted to release a new game. However, a stable release date was not made known for the audience. But it sure is worth the waiting.

The whole thing with Agents Of Mayhem

So it happened that Agents of Mayhem appeared instead of Saints Row 5. If we are to think like the perspective of Volition, the team released it to be in line with the Saints Row franchise, but it just has its own version, which is called Agents of Mayhem.

Saints Row 5 Fully-fledged Multiplayer Leaks

With the great reviews and public reception received by Saints Row IV you would think a new sequel should have been launched years ago. Sadly that was not the case as poor choices led gamers away from Volition, which is now struggling to convince Deep Silver that is worthy to get another chance.

Loyal fans however still dream that one day they will receive a sequel. Here is a list of the most coveted features that should bring the popular franchise back to life.

Fully-fledged multiplayer

While co-op multiplayer was a feature in previous Saints Row games, a full multiplayer mode would make many fans happy.  It would make lots of activities better and it would also allow for more sales (as Grand Theft Auto Online helped GTA V become the monolith it is today.

Customizations

In-depth customization features are also wanted. Previous game featured character customizations but things like body parts editing. Complex tattoos and companion customization would be more than welcome. Even if they are locked behind micro-transactions, adding some sort of earnable in-game method would make them far more attractive. They should avoid lootboxes though.

Bring it back to the roots

One of the greatest mistakes that Volition committed was going too far away from what made Saints Row fun in the first place. Saints Row IV was basically a dream come true for many fans. But Saints Row Gat out of Hell was a shell of a game filled to the brim with fun activities but almost no story content.  And Agents of Mayhem was a flop, even though it shared many of the features that made the previous installments great.

Rumored release date

With Red Dead Redemption launching this year and GTA VI supposedly in the making Volition needs to strive in order to launch it in a convenient timeframe. Let us hope that the date will come before it is dismissed as another death franchise.
