Niantic decided to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a Pokemon Go event which kicked off yesterday with twelve Pokemon representing the Chinese Zodiac, which would appear more often in the wild, and special bonuses for catching, evolving and trading Pokemon monsters. “Happy Year of the Pig! The Pokemon Go Lunar New Year event is happening once again, spotlighting 12 Pokemon and beginning February 4 at 1 p.m. PST,” said Niantic on PokemonGoLive, the official portal of Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go Community Day of February Is Also Coming

Pokemon Go Community Day is an excellent moment for Pokemon Go fans to meet, play together, and socialize. “Get out and play together in your local community parks on Pokemon Go Community Day. For just a few hours each month, you can encounter a special Pokemon in the wild. During these hours, there’s a chance to learn a previously unavailable move for that Pokemon or its Evolution, as well as earn some bonuses,” as Niantic describes the event.

As mentioned, the Pokemon Go event that celebrates the Chinese New Year would end on February 13th, but the Pokemon Go fans won’t have time to rest since Pokemon Go Community Day of February is coming on February 16th. During that upcoming Community Day, which would last only for 3 hours, players would have the chance to grab Swinub and its Shiny, but Niantic did not reveal its special move.
