The US SEC Fined EtherDelta, An Ethereum (ETH) and ERC20 Exchange, For Operating Without A License

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sanctioned Zachary Coburn, founder of Ethereum’s decentralized Ethereum (ETH) and ETH tokens exchange platform, EtherDelta, with $388,000, alleging that the startup operated as an unauthorized cryptocurrency exchange. The regulator said Thursday, November 8th, that EtherDelta “was required to register with the SEC or qualify for an exemption.”

In the press release, the SEC said this is the first action it has taken “based on the findings that the platform operated as a national means of exchanging unlicensed securities.” Also, the officials said EtherDelta provided a market for buyers and sellers to exchange tokens “using an order book, an order display website, and a smart contract based on Ethereum (ETH).”

The US regulators noted that, over an 18-month period, EtherDelta crypto exchange’s users executed more than 3.6 million orders for ERC20 tokens, “including tokens that are securities under federal securities laws.”

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Fined EtherDelta Ethereum (ETH) Crypto Exchange For Operating Without A License

The US Securities and Exchange Commission’s decision marks a precedent that could impact the creation and development of decentralized crypto exchange projects. Stephanie Avakian, co-director of the SEC’s Enforcement Division, noted that “EtherDelta had both the user interface and the underlying functionality of a national online stock exchange and was required to register with the SEC or qualify for an exemption.”

Without admitting or denying the facts, Zachary Coburn agreed to pay $388,000 in penalties broken down into $300,000 in profit returns, $13,000 in interest, plus a fine of $75,000.

EtherDelta attracted media attention back in December 2017 when its platform was hacked, putting users’ information and funds at risk. The system is used to exchange Ethereum (ETH), the Ethereum blockchain’s native cryptocurrency, as well as other tokens created on this network, known as the ERC20 tokens, among others.

Nintendo Switch Console Gets YouTube App, Finally

A few days ago, a little mistake from Nintendo America suggested that YouTube was about to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. Last night, via Twitter, Nintendo confirmed the availability of the Google’s video streaming platform on Switch console, which is now accessible directly from the hybrid system. It is a free application, of course, and is downloadable directly from the console’s app store.

YouTube app is finally available on the Nintendo Switch console

In more details about the app, the YouTube application for Nintendo Switch requires just under 100 MB of space. Navigation is fully tactile on the console screen, with a resolution necessarily limited to 720p. As for the interface, there is no surprise as we find the same GUI as in the other YouTube apps.

That’s an excellent news for Nintendo Switch console’s users who are now enjoying the addition of very sought-after app to the Nintendo console’s app store. Some people would like to see other applications coming soon, starting with the Netflix app which should arrive, eventually, as the company is exploring a deal with Nintendo for some time now.

What’s next for Nintendo Switch?

As for what’s next for the Nintendo Switch console, the Japanese company is counting on the games that would boost the sales during the last month of this year. In particular, they rely on the release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate which is scheduled to roll out on December 7th. On that occasion, Nintendo will offer a collector’s bundle, but players can also count on third-party manufacturers to provide various accessories.

In addition to the games produced by Nintendo itself, Nintendo Switch console can also count on a few recent releases, such as Dark Souls Remastered and the recently released Diablo III. Of course, before Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Pokemon Let’s Go should also boost the Nintendo Switch sales.

Samsung Emerged In The Augmented Reality Market With The New SXR SDK

Korean tech giant Samsung held its developer conference in San Francisco on November 7th and 8th. In addition to significant announcements such as the upcoming arrival of its first folding smartphone, the manufacturer also unveiled its work in the field of augmented reality.

The Korean manufacturer made several announcements, including the opening of its Bixby AI assistant to third-party developers and the presentation of a smartphone prototype equipped with a folding display. The company also spoke about its latest developments in virtual and augmented reality during a technical session called “How to be a superstar AR developer.”

Samsung has updated its “GearVR Framework” created initially for its virtual reality accessory for smartphones. It is now called the “SXR SDK,” which stands for “Samsung eXtended Reality Software Development Kit.” It is no longer limited to GearVR only but also works with Oculus Go and Google Daydream headsets.

SXR SDK, an AR cloud and an experimental augmented reality headset, Presented By Samsung

Above all, SXR SDK now also manages augmented reality, and it is compatible with ARCore, the Android augmented reality framework, as well as with the glTF file format, while it also comes with a library of 3D widgets. The SXR SDK is already available on Github. Samsung also presented an experimental augmented reality headset with an external camera, can track movements in six axes, and is accompanied by a controller, but which is limited to only three axes. The headset is Java-compatible and already has a Unity plugin.

A final announcement was made in the session dedicated to “augmented reality in the cloud” (AR Cloud). This concept, which Google is already working on, uses the cloud to create collective augmented reality experiences. Samsung has developed its own version through the “Whare project,” a framework that links physical space to virtual experience and then persists through multiple sessions and on multiple devices.

Now, Samsung is organizing an Augmented Reality Hackathon, from November 9th to 11th, 2018, in Mountain View.

Facebook Messenger To Implement “Unsend Message” Feature To Allow Users Delete Messages

Facebook Messenger will soon introduce a feature, “Unsend Message,” that will allow users delete messages up to 10 minutes after they send them. This new post message deletion feature had been announced earlier in April when Facebook’s CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg was discovered deleting messages on the Facebook Messenger instant messaging platform.

So, soon, you will be able to do the same as the CEO of Facebook. You will be able to delete messages that you’ve already sent on Messenger, as long as you do not wait more than 10 minutes to do so.

Some information regarding the new feature came up two days ago along with the release notes of the most recent Facebook Messenger update for iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system, as reported by the Business Insider news portal. More recently, if you open the App Store application on your iPhone or iPad, you will find the same announcement in the Facebook Messenger update that got published on Wednesday.

Facebook Messenger to adopt a new feature, “Unsend Message,” to allow users delete messages within 10 minutes after sending them

The iOS Facebook Messenger update release note reads that a new feature would permit users to “delete a message sent from a thread. If you accidentally send the wrong picture or incorrect information or if you write in the wrong conversation, you can easily correct your message by deleting it within 10 minutes after sending it.”

That’s excellent news, whatsoever, especially for those many people who send tons of messages one after another. In fact, it is a common thing, under some circumstances, to send messages to the wrong contact when in a hurry or whatever.

It remains to be seen when this new Facebook Messenger “Unsend Message” function would be implemented for all Facebook’s instant messaging app’s users. On the other hand, some are concerned about this feature, arguing that some malevolent people could use it to send threatening or abusive messages to potential victims and then delete them to come out clean. Most probably, the sent messages would be stocked on Facebook’s servers, however.
