Minecraft Developers Encourages Fans to Demand Oculus GO Version

Oculus Go, the standalone version of the popular Oculus virtual reality headset proved to be a success among users. One of the most important advantages is brought by the fact that you don’t need a computer in order to use it.

The device is missing one popular game that is offered by Gear VR, the main competitor. This game is Minecraft and Oculus doesn’t seem too keen on adding support in the immediate future.

It seems that the Mojang, the developer of Minecraft is encouraging fans to ask for compatibility. A developer has posted several times on Reddit, encouraging fans to ask for Oculus VR support on the official Minecraft subpage. The developer claims that he cannot offer details but keeping the thread on the top of the forum is a big sign that there is demand for an Oculus GO version.

These posts seem to further underline information released earlier by John Carmack, who declared earlier this month that progress is being made on the two apps that headline the most wanted apps on the platform. It is believed that the other app was YouTube and Google’s popular platform has recently received an official app for Oculus Go.

Currently the post has achieved 106 upvotes, a number that is quite low in comparison to other threads on the forum. If people really want the play Minecraft on their Oculus Go they should show their support in order to be noticed by the developer, which is constantly scanning the forums in order to add fan-favorite features to Minecraft.

Since Samsung Galaxy Gear and Oculus Go share the same proprietary hardware owned by Oculus a port could be done without too much effort from Mojang.

While Oculus Go offers native support for Bluetooth controllers Mojang may opt to add support for motion controllers in the future.

It remains to be seen if the fan-favorite game will become available on the Oculus Go in the following months.

BioWare General Manager Teased Dragon Age Announcement

In a new post on BioWare’s official blog, the BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson teased a Dragon Age announcement, saying that Dragon Age is a significant franchise for the studio. He also revealed that in the upcoming months we should expect an important statement that would refer to the next title in the franchise.

“If you’ve been following these blogs, or myself and Mark Darrah on Twitter, you know we’re also working on some secret Dragon Age stuff. Dragon Age is an incredibly important franchise in our studio, and we’re excited to continue its legacy. Look for more on this in the coming month, though I won’t tell you where to look,” said Casey Hudson, BioWare General Manager.

While we hope BioWare would announce the next title in the franchise, there is no information to point in that direction. However, the timing of Casey Hudson’s tease on a Dragon Age announcement is excellent, given the fact that The Game Awards is coming on December 6th.

BioWare General Manager Teased Dragon Age Announcement

For some time now, everybody has been aware that a future Dragon Age game is under development at BioWare, but the studio kept the work secret. This year, Casey Hudson came out to say that the next Dragon Age title would be focusing on the storyline and characters but will also follow the EA’s “live” model.

That would mean that the next Dragon Age title would continuously grow thanks to frequent content updates. Besides the teasing Hudson made about Dragon Age, the General Manager also announced that BioWare would also focus on developing more games for the Mass Effect universe.

The last installment in the Dragon Age franchise (and the third one, in general), Dragon Age: Inquisition rolled out in 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but also on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Nintendo Switch Would Sell Better Than The PlayStation 4 in 2019

For the first time in 10 years, Nintendo could regain first place in terms of video game consoles sales worldwide, explains a recent press release issued by Strategy Analytics. And that because, according to the before-mentioned firm’s predictions, Nintendo Switch would sell better than the PlayStation 4 in 2019.

According to the company’s predictions, next year, Nintendo will sell 17.3 million Nintendo Switch consoles worldwide, while Sony will sell only about 17 million PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro consoles. As regarding Microsoft, its Xbox One console will come in the third place in 2019 with approximately 10 million Xbox One and Xbox One X.

After years of disappointing sales with the Wii U, Nintendo would finally come back on its position as a leader in the video games console industry. Nevertheless, even if 2019 could be Nintendo’s year, Sony will still be number one if you consider the number of consoles which are already in use.

Nintendo Switch Would Sell Better Than The PlayStation 4 in 2019

“Sony remains the market leader in terms of consoles used. It represents nearly half of the video game consoles used. 84% of them are now PS4 or PS4 Pro devices,” writes Strategy Analytics.

Otherwise, the good news is that video game consoles are not about to die, according to Strategy Analytics analysts. That is despite the arrival of mobile video games and video games streaming services. While console sales are expected to decline by 10% in 2019, they will return to this year’s performance in 2021-2023, thanks to the release of the next-generation consoles.

“Contrary to some expectations, the global gaming console market remains healthy,” said David Watkins, Director of Strategy Analytics. “In fact, some would argue that the persistent appeal of the video games console, now in its sixth decade, continues to demonstrate the weaknesses and limitations of alternative game platforms,” he added.
