Nintendo To Be An Entertainment Business Rather Than A Gaming One

At the annual GeekWire Summit in Seattle, held earlier this week, Nintendo America’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime debated lots of topics. He discussed how Nintendo would be defined. According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo wants to be an entertainment business rather than a gaming one.

Nintendo America’s President and COO explained his statement by presenting how the company runs, at the moment, three distinct, separated areas of business. Namely, Nintendo operates video gaming business, mobile gaming, and theme parks and movies.

Next, Reggie Fils-Aime pointed out that, beyond Nintendo Switch and 3DS, other efforts were the company’s significant drivers. He gave Super Mario Run as an example of how they plan to deliver its IP to consumers in different ways.

“That’s our vision for mobile: to deliver our intellectual property in compelling ways to consumers who may not have experienced those properties before. A belief that they’ll come back, maybe buy a Mario T-shirt, eat that Mario cereal, or buy a Switch, because of affiliation and affection they have with that IP,” said Fils-Aime.

According to Nintendo America’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo intentionally slowed down its mobile games rollout and direct ports. He said that Nintendo thinks that building unique experiences for mobile platforms is crucial and the Japanese company struggled to come up with the best methods for monetizing their apps.

“Home system games, if transplanted to a mobile device, wouldn’t transfer as well. We needed to work through monetization as we’re driven to make money. And we needed to work through how to be effective on platforms and marketplaces that we ourselves don’t own. That took time,” added Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo America’s President and COO.

In other news, Nintendo plans on releasing a new, updated Nintendo Switch next year.

December 1st will mark the World Finals for the Clash Royale League held in Tokyo

Supercell, the mobile game giant, recently announced that the Clash Royale League World Finals will be held in Tokyo on the 1st of December. That is when this Finnish company will grant a lucky team the lion’s share of the incredible one million dollars prize pool.

Supercell, based in Helsinki, ties its hopes to the increase of the mobile game esports industry as it will more than likely take off. Of course, the hopes are also linked to the raised awareness of the competitive play around Clash Royale. This game consists of a multiplayer online battle arena style title which takes place in real time.

Clash Royale is a major contributor to the amazing $2 billion revenue gathered by Supercell on an annual basis. Its role as a major player in today’s mobile gaming industry is underlined by Newzoo’s – the research firm – predictions that it can draw $70 billion this year alone. That is exactly why Supercell really hopes esports can act as some sort of boost which will allow it to remain a top earner.

Makuhari Messe will be the venue for the finals. This place is a convention center which hosts the largest gaming and entertainment events in Japan. During the event – which will take place all day – you will be able of observing the final tournament for what was the inaugural season of the Clash Royale League (or CRL).

In this event, the top team from each region which was part of the League will oppose the top team from Japan until only one remains standing at the end. That team will receive the Golden Crown Trophy which stands for the first title of Clash Royale League World Champion. Chris Cho, the game’s commissioner said that “the Clash Royale League is such a global competition, and after hosting the World Finals for our individual competition last year in London, we can’t wait to bring CRL World Finals to our fans on the other side of the world in Japan”.

GTA 6 Possible Change of Name and Addition of South America

Grand Theft Auto is regarded as one of the most influential game in the history of the industry and its popularity, instead of declining, keeps on growing which each passing year. GTA 5 and especially GTA Online have both enjoyed a great success, mostly due to the fact that Rockstar puts a lot of effort in keeping these titles as fresh as possible by constantly releasing new downloadable content. However, this does not stop the numerous fans of the series from waiting impatiently for the new game, GTA 6. Although the rumors surrounding this title have started gathering pace, not much is known for certain, including its release date.

What is the most likely release date of GTA 6?

All rumors so far seem to agree that we will not see the new GTA in 2019, as the amount of required work simply cannot be done in such short space of time. According to a recent rumor, which originated from the YouTube channel The Know, the most probable release year of GTA 6 is either 2021 or 2022. However, this report also states that the new title will not necessarily be named GTA 6.

South America could be included in the new story

Apparently, a source close to GTA revealed that the next game of the series could have a different name, with Project Americas being a possibility. The title would see an addition of some locations in South America, which players could visit from the U.S. Moreover, the game itself could focus more on the drug business than other titles of the GTA series.

These, however, are only speculations, as Rockstar has not revealed any details regarding GTA 6. The fans of the series wait with great anticipation for any news, at the same time coming up with their own ideas, some of which are better than others. All we can do for now is to wait for the official news about GTA 6.

WhatsApp PiP or picture-in-picture is finally available for Android beta users. Beta testers were previously not allowed to use this version of the app because it was not fully developed. Now that it is, according to WABetaInfo, the PiP mode can now be accessed on WhatsApp Android beta version 2.18.301. Users can now watch Instagram, Facebook and Youtube videos in the WhatsApp app itself.

If you are a WhatsApp Android beta tester and you, unfortunately, can’t access this feature even though you got the app updated to the 2.18.301 version, then you can try reinstalling the app after getting the chat history backed up in case you do not want to lose important messages. iPhone users can use WhatsApp PiP too because it is available for them as well. A small window will be available in the WhatsApp itself so you can watch videos while waiting for messages.

Now with every link from an Instagram or Youtube video that you receive, you can watch it directk=ly where you got it sent, and it will not open in a different window. The small window will pop up in the chat window you received the link. You can pause or play the video as you like and also close and fullscreen controls. You can increase or decrease the video bubble’s size and even move it around the screen of the phone. You can play with it and customize it exactly how it is best for you.

The sad news is that Android beta users can’t really use this properly right now. It has some errors like the window closing, the bubble not opening but we are pretty sure that this issues will be soon solved.

Gemini Crypto Trading Platform Agreed With An Insurance Company For Covering The Cryptos In Its Custody

The Gemini crypto trading platform, owned by brothers Tyler and CameroWinklevossss, announced yesterday that it had succeeded in obtaining insurance coverage for the cryptocurrencies it holds in custody.

Yusuf Hussain, Director of Risk at Gemini, pointed out that the large number of hackers that attack crypto exchange platforms, which have resulted in substantial losses, is the main reason for the cautious attitude of the insurers regarding these crypto-related businesses. Hussain also refers to the poor standards, policies, and procedures that have characterized much of the crypto industry, as other reasons for the lack of confidence of insurers.

“As a result, many crypto trading platforms have been unable to obtain insurance or have rejected insurance proposals because of the high cost of policies set by the few insurers offering plans. However, we were able to convince insurers that Gemini is indeed a safe platform and custodian, where customers can buy, sell and store their digital assets in a regulated and secure manner,” stated Yusuf Hussain.

This new move covers for Gemini’s cryptocurrencies in custody and complements an insurance policy on US Dollar deposits already offered by Gemini through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), as Hussain added.

Gemini also highlighted that it holds several insurances for an accumulated amount that is greater than the value of the cryptocurrencies in custody on the user’s behalf. However, unauthorized access to clients’ and platform’s accounts are not covered by the newly signed insurance plan, said Gemini in the user agreement, which also emphasizes that the only person responsible for maintaining the security of account access credentials is the customer.

The security incidents affecting crypto trading platforms represent one of the most notorious vulnerabilities in the crypto industry. Also, these businesses are mostly centralized, which contrasts with the philosophy of decentralization promoted by the majority of cryptocurrencies. Accordingly, the safest option to store cryptocurrencies remains a cold wallet.
