Cryptocurrency Mining Apps Banned From App Store, Announced Apple

Cryptocurrencies have been a real revolution in digital assets market at the end of last year. In spite of their great volatility, a large number of users decided to bet on them as a means of investment because, due to speculation, their value did not stop growing and analysts assured that in 2018 they could even triple their value. As a result of their popularity, many began to use cryptocurrency for malicious purposes, forcing large corporations and governments to establish a set of rules and regulations regarding its use and how to deal with it. Now, Apple banned cryptocurrency mining apps on its App Store.

After the chaos generated by the cryptocurrencies in the second half of 2017, the main software developers and governments are increasingly applying restrictive rules against these decentralized monetary units.

While Microsoft and Google are already quite clear on their position, it is now Apple’s turn to control the use that can be made of crypto coins in its systems.

Apple has just released an update to its Standards Guide for Application Development and Publishing, specifically in section 2.4.2 of the Hardware Compatibility section, which makes it clear that all types of applications that use the hardware of an iPhone, iPad, and even Mac computers are completely prohibited, and therefore cannot be published on the App Store under any circumstances.

The new standard indicates that no application can quickly drain the battery of the company’s devices, and this also includes background processing and advertising, ending applications that display banner ads that undermine cryptocurrencies at the expense of users’ computers’ processing power.

ICO apps have also undergone a major adjustment and to avoid new speculation and scams, Apple will only allow registered applications such as trading companies, banks, security firms, and FCM (Futures Commission Merchants) to publish these types of ICO apps on App Store.

In short, Apple has banned any kind of cryptocurrency mining app from App Store, in a movement to protect its users from scams and speculations.

The latest news in the jailbreaking community is pointing towards the fact that an Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak is coming. Ian Beer was the one who found an exploit in iOS 11.3.1 and he didn’t hesitate from unveiling it so that other developers such as Coolstar could create a jailbreak. In fact, Ian Beer and Coolstar announced that they are teaming up in order to create the highly anticipated iOS 11.3.1 full jailbreak.

iOS 11.3.1 Kernel Exploit

In case you didn’t know, Ian Beer is a renowned developer who works in Google’s Project Zero team. The developer has a reputation for always finding exploits in Apple’s iOS and the best thing about this is that Ian Beer unveils the exploits for iOS jailbreakers to use. Moreover, Ian Beer announced on June 5th that he found an iOS 11.3.1 kernel exploit and that Coolstar is already working on breaking that version of iOS.

Coolstar

As the entire iOS jailbreak community is waiting for Coolstar to launch the Electra iOS 11.3.1 tool, the developer announced over Twitter that “he has all the pieces collected” and all that’s left now is to put them together. In addition, the developer also mentioned that he is going to update the Electra jailbreak tool which currently supports iOS 11 and iOS 11.1.2 to support iOS 11.3.1.

Increased Storage Space

We don’t have that much information about the upcoming jailbreak tool, but we do know that it will require more storage space than all previous jailbreak tools. Coolstar said that the reason behind this is that the jailbreak method for iOS 11.3.1 is different than everything he created before.

Nonetheless, Coolstar has yet to announce an official launch date for the Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak tool, but rumor has it that the developer is planning to launch it during the upcoming week.

iPhone 9 Release Date Delayed Because Of Production Problems

iPhone 9 is about to have a late launch compared to iPhone X 2018, having problems with manufacturing the cut-off LCD that it wants to use this year.

The information comes from the Asian publication Nikkei, this being the second to announce that production for iPhone 9 will begin later than the one for iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Plus, so there might be some truth in this.

iPhone 9 is set to have the final components just delivered in August at Foxconn factories where they are going to be assembled a month later than those that will be used to produce Apple’s iPhone 11. The one month delay between initiating production for the two iPhone models is not unusual if Apple has production problems and what we are hearing about iPhone 9 is not really new, similar information being offered about iPhone X in 2017.

iPhone 9 was initially announced for launch in the autumn of 2018, but it seems it will arrive in October or even November on the market, if Apple’s partners are able to solve problems with the manufacture of LCD screens. It is unclear what affects the production of LCD screens for iPhone 9 in 2018, but it does not matter, because if Apple does not have components, in the end, they can not make the phones.
