iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 Rolled Out By Apple, Along With tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 Betas

Apple commenced its fifth testing phase for its iOS 12.1, tvOS 12.1, and watchOS 5.1. Accordingly, the Cupertino-based company launched iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5, along with the Beta versions for tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1. All those developers who would want to test the new betas can either download the installation files from the Apple Download Center or as an OTA update on the Apple devices already accepted in the Beta testing program.

Also, the iOS 12.1 Public Beta 5, along with the betas for tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1, would come out in a few days, most probably on Wednesday, and it would be downloadable on Apple Beta Software Program website. On the other hand, iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 is already available with the build number 16B5089b.

It seems that the upcoming iOS 12.1 would come out with some new features but, mostly, it would only bring some improvements of those already existing in the iOS 12 version. Also, the upcoming tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 would also come out with new changes.

iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 Rolled Out By Apple – What Would Be Different in iOS 12.1?

Even though iOS 12 ditched the Group FaceTime, despite being present in the betas for the current version of iOS, the function seems that it would make its comeback in iOS 12.1, according to previous beta releases. Group FaceTime would support up to 32 people in a conversation at the same time and would also boast support for Memoji.

Additionally, the upcoming iOS 12.1 would add more than 70 new Emojis and would fix the reported iPhone XS and XS Max charging issues. Also, the forthcoming version would fix some bugs and improve security.

Besides, the upcoming tvOS 12.1 version would come out with some bug fixes and security enhancements. On the other hand, the new watchOS 5.1, similarly to the iOS 12.1, would come out with support for Group FaceTime, along with some improvements and features.

OnePlus 6T Launch Noticed by Apple – Competitors Have Their Eye On OnePlus

According to past rumors, OnePlus 6T was supposed to be launched on October 17th, but this turned out to be incorrect and it was later officially announced that the newest OnePlus’ device will make its debut on October 30th in New York City. However, it looks like the launch event might be ruined, as Apple plans to unveil its new devices, iPad Pro 2018 and Macs, in the same place and at the same time.

Apple will take OnePlus’ spotlight

OnePlus 6T is expected to be an improvement over OnePlus 6, which itself makes this smartphone quite exciting. Unfortunately for the Chinese company, the media attention on the day of its launch will surely be focused on Apple and its new devices, even though OnePlus 6T, a smartphone, is not a direct competitor of iPad Pro and iMac.

Huawei and Google already launched their smartphones

But this is not the only worry for OnePlus. The fact that they will hold the event at the end of October gives a huge advantage to Huawei and Google, who already unveiled their smartphones, Mate 20 Pro and Pixel 3, earlier this month. Moreover, both devices, although they are more expensive, are more interesting than OnePlus 6T.

No company can beat Apple’s press conferences

Apple is known for its entertaining press conferences, which always gather the attention of the whole world. OnePlus cannot match the American company, as no matter what they will present on stage, the coverage they will get is going to be limited.

The launch event of OnePlus 6T is set to start at 11:00 AM EST at Pier 36 in New York City, exactly one hour later than Apple’s event, which, surprisingly, will take place in the same city at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

iPad Pro 2018, MacBook Air, and Mac Mini To Be Presented By Apple At The Event on October 30th

Apple has sent out press invitations to attend the company’s event set for October 30th, in New York. We expect Apple to announce new tablets, computers, mini-PCs, and some accessories, as well. More specifically, the Cupertino-based company could reveal its new iPad Pro 2018, MacBook Air, and the new Mac Mini PC.

iPad Pro 2018

As Apple already launched its new iPhone 2018 devices and Apple Watch series, the new generation of iPad Pro 2018 tablets are expected to roll out during the upcoming event.

Apple, thinking about the 2-in-1 and convertible tablets that come from Windows, and without having a Mac with a touchscreen as an alternative, still considers that its iPad Pro tablets can replace PCs.

We expect two new iPad Pro 2018 models with screen sizes similar to the current ones, somewhere between 10 and 13 inches and high resolution. We don’t think Apple will jump to OLED displays for reasons of cost and panel supply. They will reduce the size of bezels to improve the screen-to-body ratio, enhance the potential of the Apple Pencil, and upgrade accessories such as the keyboard.

MacBook Air

After updating the MacBook Pro, the best-selling Apple personal computer series, it would be time to upgrade the MacBook Air line, as well. Apple is today a mobile company, more than anything else, and they don’t care much about their other products.

MacBook Air hasn’t been updated regarding hardware for years and, although it is still one of the Apple’s cheapest Mac notebook, it has been outperformed by its competitors and by new formats such as 2-in-1 and convertible tablets.

According to some rumors, a MacBook Air would be presented during the Apple event on October 30th. Also, it might boast a screen of between 12 and 13 inches with “Retina.”

Mac Mini

It’s been four years since the smallest and cheapest Mac notebook has been updated, and as a result, some of the world’s biggest technology news and reviews portals recommended users not to buy these computers.

Tim Cook tried to lower the criticism by stating that “it’s not time to share the details, but Mac Mini will be an important part of the company’s product line in the future.” Accordingly, a Mac Mini 2018 could come labeled as a Mac Mini Pro and might boast the eighth generation Intel Core, DDR4 memories, among others.

Apple ID Holders Across China Exposed to a “Phishing” Hack – Two-Factor Authentication Recommended By Apple

A new case of “phishing” in China reminds us how important it is to opt for two-factor authentication to protect our Apple user ID, especially if we have linked a credit or debit card to it. A week ago, two Chinese online payment giants, namely, Alipay and WeChat, reported that their customers whose Apple IDs were linked to the before-mentioned company’s accounts had been hacked. The e-stores noticed misuse of the Apple users’ electronic wallets.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Apple company has now sent a message apologizing sincerely for the situation. However, they also confirmed that the problem has occurred outside the Cupertino-based company, and has been limited to a massive case of “phishing,” an email scam in which the cyberattackers send a message that looks like coming from Apple but, in reality, is not Apple.

Apple recommend two-factor authentication after the recent “phishing” attacks of Apple ID across China

According to this “phishing” email, the Apple ID user is urged to connect to a page that looks like Apple’s official site, but, once again, is not Apple’s. When Apple users connect to that fake website and enter their Apple ID account and password, they are giving their credentials to hackers who use them as they want.

“We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience caused to customers affected by these phishing scams,” Apple stated.

Apparently, the hacked Apple customers had not configured two-factor authentication, which would have prevented hackers from accessing their Apple ID. However, as reported, the issue only affected Apple users across China.

Apple has not confirmed how many of its clients have been affected, nor what money amounts have been stolen. Also, the Cupertino-based company did not offer details on how cyberattackers obtained the list of the Apple IDs across China to send “phishing” emails to them. However, Apple recommended users worldwide to adopt two-factor authentication.

Upcoming Apple Streaming Service To Offer Movies and Series For Free But Only For Apple Customers

The application with which Apple wants to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, among others, is finally starting to shape up. As Apple revealed today, unlike other streaming services, the Apples’ one would permit iPhone, iPad, and MacBook users to watch movies and original Apple series for free.

Similar to the recently launched Huawei Video platform, Apple wants to release a streaming platform that provides varied multimedia content to its customers. Accordingly, the American tech giant plans to offer movies and Apple original series for free for every iPhone, iPad, and MacBook user.

Thus, in case you’re using an iPhone, for example, once the Apple streaming platform goes live, you’ll be able to watch movies and original Apple series for free.

Apple streaming service to offer movies and original Apple series for free but only for its customers

Apple is preparing a new video streaming service that will combine original content and third-party services from traditional media companies, that is, more or less similar to what Netflix is offering on its platform. In this way, the owners of at least one Apple device, such as the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, to name a few, will be able to access the upcoming service for free.

As previously announced, Apple is working on its own production series and probably on some movies, as well. These contents will be included in the new Apple streaming platform for free, but only for the those who own at least one Apple device. In this way, we will have a mixed service with free Apple movies and series and paid content from other services such as HBO.

At the moment there is no estimated date for the launch of the Apple streaming service, but spokespersons of the American brand have suggested that the app could arrive early next year, along with the several updates for iOS and TvOS.
