Microsoft To Combine Xbox Live Gold With Xbox Game Pass [which just got Minecraft]

We just talked about the incredible sale of Minecraft in the past 10 years since it launched on PC, and it’s still rising. The sales will continue to get higher not just on PC, but also on more platforms if Microsoft will combine the two subscriptions into a single one.

As reported by Twitter user @h0x0d, we could see a new service from Microsoft called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate:

This person claims that the service will only be $14.99 per month, which is quite the bargain, considering Xbox owners will save almost $5 per month if Microsoft really wants to combine the services. As The Verge pointed out, Microsoft will certainly reveal something about this in the next weeks when they will unveil the disc-less Xbox One S All-Digital edition.

Why should we trust what @h0x0d tweeted?

It’s simple: it makes perfect sense, and it’s a good strategy, which has been used in the past by Microsoft. Remember the Xbox All Access subscription which bundled together with a leased Xbox One X, Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Game Pass for $34.99/month? Probably that one-time offer was testing the reaction of users and how the bundling service was received by players.

Considering all the aggressive marketing around the Xbox Game Pass and the fact that the disc-less Xbox One is counting on the digital games offered through the Microsoft services, a bundle named Xbox Game Pass Ultimate isn’t far-fetched.

The games added to the Xbox Game Pass since it launched are Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3, and Minecraft was recently added. Microsoft is also working on the xCloud streaming service to let players stream games on different platforms (PCs, smartphones/tablets, consoles).

Apple Streaming Service Might Be Revealed Today

Apple is about innovation, and the company has always managed to reinvent itself and bring new things. It appears that Apple is ready to make another step, and it seems that the company is planning to get into the television business. While not many details are available, the launch of a new Apple streaming service is expected.

The biggest clue is the fact that J.J. Abrams (director of Star Wars), Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Aniston are expected to show up at an Apple event. “It seems fairly obvious they are launching a new video service,” declared Techsponential technology market analyst Avi Greengart.

Will Apple streaming service be successful?

Apple has released mostly successful products, and it has loyal customers. However, when it comes to streaming, the company might discover that there is plenty of competition. It is hard to tell whether Apple will be able to bring something new. “If the content is compelling enough, people will subscribe,” Greengart adds. “This is not new, but it is hard to do well.”

However, Apple has millions of users that it can count on, which is a significant advantage.

“Apple’s business model is essentially a subscription business model,” explains analyst Laura Martin. “Apple’s access to more than 900 million unique users globally, most of them among the wealthiest individuals in the world, plus its culture of creating hardware and services with proven commercial appeal makes it well-positioned.”

Apple needs this streaming service

There is a chance that Apple desperately needs a new successful product. The iPhone sales numbers aren’t disclosed anymore, and it appears that the smartphones aren’t selling as well as Apple hoped to.

An Apple streaming service would help the company expand their market, and it will be “a pivotal step for Cupertino-based firm in further driving its services flywheel and entering the ‘streaming content arms race’ which is clearly starting to take form,” according to Daniel Ives of Wedbush Securities.

Upcoming Apple Streaming Service To Offer Movies and Series For Free But Only For Apple Customers

The application with which Apple wants to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, among others, is finally starting to shape up. As Apple revealed today, unlike other streaming services, the Apples’ one would permit iPhone, iPad, and MacBook users to watch movies and original Apple series for free.

Similar to the recently launched Huawei Video platform, Apple wants to release a streaming platform that provides varied multimedia content to its customers. Accordingly, the American tech giant plans to offer movies and Apple original series for free for every iPhone, iPad, and MacBook user.

Thus, in case you’re using an iPhone, for example, once the Apple streaming platform goes live, you’ll be able to watch movies and original Apple series for free.

Apple streaming service to offer movies and original Apple series for free but only for its customers

Apple is preparing a new video streaming service that will combine original content and third-party services from traditional media companies, that is, more or less similar to what Netflix is offering on its platform. In this way, the owners of at least one Apple device, such as the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, to name a few, will be able to access the upcoming service for free.

As previously announced, Apple is working on its own production series and probably on some movies, as well. These contents will be included in the new Apple streaming platform for free, but only for the those who own at least one Apple device. In this way, we will have a mixed service with free Apple movies and series and paid content from other services such as HBO.

At the moment there is no estimated date for the launch of the Apple streaming service, but spokespersons of the American brand have suggested that the app could arrive early next year, along with the several updates for iOS and TvOS.
