First 2019 iPhone Models Would Be Red iPhone XS and XS Max

At the moment, both iPhone XS and XS Max are only available in silver, black, and gold. However, that would change this month when Apple plans to launch red iPhone XS and XS Max as its first 2019 iPhone models.

The rumor came out thanks to a post on Weibo, the most famous Chinese social network. MacRumors took the information and presented it yesterday. According to Weibo, it seems that the new red iPhone XS and XS Max would only be available in China as the iPhone sales in this country are much lower than expected. However, Apple might not limit the sales for its upcoming iPhone XS and XS Max in red color only to China.

The report on Weibo also says that red variants of iPhone XS and XS Max would come out later this month. “Apple globally launched a mid-cycle (PRODUCT)RED edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in March 2017 and a similar edition for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in April 2018, so the timing wouldn’t be completely off. Apple already sells a (PRODUCT)RED variant of the iPhone XR,” MacRumors pointed out.

First 2019 iPhone Models Would Be Red iPhone XS and XS Max

On the other hand, as regards the other iPhone of the 2018 lineup, “Apple’s iPhone XR has had a red color variant since launch. So, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Apple release red versions of the iPhone XS and XS Max, to drum up sales,” Business Insider highlighted.

“If there’s any weight to today’s rumor of a red iPhone XS and XS coming to China, it could potentially signal the early launch of PRODUCT(RED) versions for the rest of the world, although nothing is certain. Rumors last year of a mid-cycle PRODUCT(RED) edition of the iPhone X never transpired, for example,” MacRumors reported.

In short, according to a rumor coming from Weibo, Apple might launch its first 2019 iPhone models this month – iPhone XS and XS Max in red color. However, both devices, which initially rolled out in 2018, won’t come out with any other changes except the new color.

LG G8 ThinQ To Come Out With In-Display Speaker – Crystal Sound OLED

The South Korean tech giant already announced that its upcoming LG G8 ThinQ would come out with in-display speaker, a technology known as Crystal Sound OLED. As the name implies, this tech turns the whole screen into one big speaker.

“Developed in-house by LG, CSO repurposes the OLED display as a diaphragm, vibrating the entire surface to produce sound with impressive volume. And because LG’s unique technology takes advantage of the entire display, CSO also improves clarity, making voices easier to discern and subtle musical notes more noticeable,” LG said via an official press release.

“Our commitment to driving smartphone audio to new heights is on clear display in LG G8 ThinQ. By developing new technologies as well as working closely in partnership with the audio industry’s best partners, LG will continue to deliver the quality of sound that consumers demand and deserve,” added Chang Ma, Senior VP and head of product strategy at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

LG G8 ThinQ To Come Out With Crystal Sound OLED, In-Display Speaker

While this technology is just emerging on smartphones, LG has already implemented it on its last year’s TV sets. In the case of TVs, the so-called Crystal Sound OLED works excellent, changing the way the sound is delivered.

More specifically, thanks to this in-display speaker technology and the larger screen of LG TV sets, the audio can be directed from localized parts of the display, meaning that the dialogues on the screen would sound like coming out from the mouths of the characters. As for the LG G8 ThinQ, we don’t know yet if the same would apply since a smartphone’s screen size might not allow for this feature to exists at such an accuracy similar to that on TV sets.

However, LG G8 ThinQ would feature Crystal Sound OLED (in-display speaker) and other features such as:

  • DTS:X 3D Surround Sound that emulates a 7.1-channel system with or without earphones, a first for LG
  • Hi-Fi Quad DAC that elevates the listening experience by reproducing sound with exceptional fidelity and the added ability to up-sample most audio files for increased clarity and depth
  • Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) that supports high-quality audio streaming even without an unlimited data plan
  • Boombox Speaker that takes advantage of the internal space of the phone as a resonance chamber to generate amazing bass and more volume
