Windows Lite – Can It Outperform Chrome OS?

Many of you might already know about Windows RT and Windows 10 S, but how many of you have heard of Windows Lite? Not many, and that may be so because Windows Lite is currently under development at Microsoft. However, from what we know so far, the next operating software would be a fascinating one. Also, can it outperform Chrome OS in the sector of notebooks?

Windows Lite would be the future Microsoft operating system dedicated for notebooks and, allegedly, a competitor for Chrome OS and Chromebooks. It would be a lightweight version of Windows, and it will run UWP applications downloaded from the Microsoft store, along with Progressive Web Apps that operates similarly to an offline app but via an online service.

Windows Lite, as a part of Microsoft’s Always-Connected laptop project, would work with any type of CPU to give more options for manufacturers and customers, as well.

Windows Lite – Can It Outperform Chrome OS?

Now, Microsoft did not announce anything about how when it will release Windows Lite. However, the company might announce Windows Lite at the Microsoft Build 2019 conference which would be held somewhen between April and May 2019. Also, some rumors said that Windows Lite wouldn’t be available for purchase, but it would come pre-installed on various notebooks targeting students and home users.

We don’t know yet if Windows Lite would outperform Chrome OS but, thinking that Windows 10 S was a disaster, to some extent, Windows Lite has to be better, so, eventually, it might be a fierce competitor for Chrome OS in the sector of notebooks.

Also, as Chrome OS is “builds off of the familiarity of the Chrome browser,” as Digital Trends reported, Windows Lite might also try to “overhaul the idea of what an operating system should look and feel like,” and head to a new direction.

GTA 5 Surpassed Fallout 76 In 2018, Ending Another Excellent Year

Fallout 76 was one of the most sought-after games of the year, but, unfortunately for Bethesda, it was a disaster regarding sales. On the other hand, the famous GTA 5, a game released by Rockstar Games in 2013, sold more copies in 2018 than Fallout 76.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a popular title among gamers, and since 2013 it has been selling better than the majority of the games released between 3013 and 2018. And that’s a significant achievement for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, the two companies behind the title, which are now reportedly working on GTA 6.

GTA 5 Surpassed Fallout 76 In 2018, Ending Another Excellent Year

As reported by the market research firm The NPD Group, in November, Bethesda’s title, Fallout 76, was only the fourth best-selling game of that month. In November, Battlefield 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2, sold better than Fallout 76. However, throughout the year, GTA 5 sold more copies than Fallout 76.

GTA 5 has been in the news many times lately, in particular, thanks to its outstanding sales in comparison with other games. On the other hand, Fallout 76, which has been launched recently, though, did not have a good start compared to other releases this year and even with Grand Theft Auto 5.

GTA 6 Will Be The Next Installment In The Famous Series

Reportedly, Rockstar Games and Take-Tow Interactive are already working on the next release, Grand Theft Auto 6. According to rumors, GTA 6 would come out by 2022. Also, some recent GTA 6 leaks indicated that the sequel would come back to Vice City and would feature a female main character for the first time in the history of the franchise.

According to other rumors, Grand Theft Auto 6 would actually boast all the previous cities in the GTA series, or at least it would come out with two maps.

In the meantime, Rockstar Games celebrates another excellent year for GTA 5 which succeeded to sell more copies than Fallout 76, one of the most sought-after of 2018.

Cydia Store Coming To An End – Purchases Closed Down: What’s Next?

While jailbreak might have been revived, things are definitely different compared to how they used to be. Just a couple of years ago, Cydia (a version of App Store which contained jailbreak tweaks) was essential. For many users it was just as important as the App Store, as it allowed them to customize their phone and adapt it to their needs.

However, things have changed drastically later on. Jailbreaking became a difficult process and developers found it almost impossible to crack recent iOS versions. Even when they managed to do that, Cydia Store wasn’t able to make a comeback as well.

Shutting down the service

Cydia’s founder Jay “Saurik” Freeman explained that he thought about shutting down the service. That’s because Cydia stopped being needed, and this also led to almost no profit. Freeman wrote a Reddit post in which he offered more details:

The reality is that I wanted to just shut down the Cydia Store entirely before the end of the year, and was considering moving the timetable up after receiving the report (to this weekend). This service loses me money and is not something I have any passion to maintain: it was a critical component of a healthy ecosystem, and for a while it helped fund a small staff of people to maintain the ecosystem, but it came at great cost to my sanity and led lots of people to irrationally hate me due to what amounted to a purposeful misunderstanding of how profit vs. revenue works.

However, it appears that Cydia won’t be shut down for now, as this wouldn’t help Freeman, who would still have to pay for hosting archived repositories. Therefore, he decided to close down purchases. This change might mark the end for Cydia.

Why One of Trump’s Tax Reforms is Causing an Increase in Divorce in the U.S.

Often, it’s hard to separate fact and fiction when appraising Donald Trump’s statements and core policies. After all, we’re talking about the single most polarising leader in the western world, and a man who’s policies are often viewed through a partisan and distorting lens.

This is especially true with Trump’s tax reforms, which either liberate low and middle-earners in the U.S. or provide further tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations in the States depending on who you speak to.

Interestingly, one of these reforms is driving an increase in the rate of divorce in the country as 2019 approaches. We’ll explore this below while asking how this trend will play out in the future.

Breaking down the Basics – What are the Details of the Reform?

On January 1st, 2019, one of Trump’s more obscure tax reforms will come into play, as divorcees will effectively begin to fund tax cuts for corporate America under the terms of brand new legislation.

More specifically, from January 1st alimony will no longer be tax-deductible by the spouse making individual payments. At the same time, the recipient of this income will no longer have to declare these payments and taxable income, creating mixed fortunes that are sure to polarise separated couples even more.

This new reform will dramatically reduce the amount of cash available for couples who are parting ways, with taxes effectively rising significantly for the spouse who’ll be required to make alimony payments.

However, those likely to receive payments may well see something of a windfall in the New Year, as their own taxable income is reduced considerably.

Why is this Triggering an Increase in the Number of Divorces?

While we’re not suggesting that spouses are now looking to seek a divorce in order to profit, there’s certainly a drive among couples already engaged in proceedings to push through their plans and conclude deals before the New Year.

After all, once the tax deduction has gone there’ll be less money available for the whole family unit, and various divorce lawyers in the States have seen the demand for their time soar in recent weeks.

Families are also keen to avoid the uncertainty created by the new legislation, particularly those who are unsure about the new reform and its precise impact on family funds.

Going forward, the first quarter of 2019 is likely to see chaos in legal offices throughout the states. After all, the highest earners in a relationship (who’ll be required to pay alimony to their spouse) may refuse to meet the new requirements, while judges may also be forced to rule on certain cases in order to clarify the new rules and set precedents.

This will definitely be a fascinating space to watch in the near-term, and it’s yet another unpredictable chapter in Trump’s premiership!
