Skype Audio and Video Calls Update Download Available Soon

When Microsoft bought Skype, competitors in the market, who in the meantime became true giants in messaging, such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, did not seem to be a problem, as they only provided basic text messaging services. In the meantime, however, these (and many more) offer Internet-based calling functionality at a similar level, so Microsoft is now trying to differentiate its service through capabilities that fans have long been calling for, such as call recording.

Skype Call Recording is one of the many features that many users have long wanted, and in the meantime they have developed separate applications that offer the ability to record audio or video signal from the Microsoft service. With the promised end-of-July update, which will adapt Skype interface from the desktop to a closer one to the mobile sector, the ability to record calls will be integrated across all platforms.

Thus, when someone starts the recording, all participants in the call will receive a notification that warns them of this.

One of Skype’s main competitors, Google Hangouts, has provided similar functionality a long time ago, combining the video call platform with live streaming capabilities from YouTube to deliver a final record directly to the YouTube channel of the one who wanted to record.

In the case of Skype, the records will most likely remain on the device on which the recording was started. Lately, Microsoft has begun to experiment with the so-called “Content Creator mode”, which offers those interested in podcasting live video or audio, the ability to use Skype along with streaming and recording applications such as Xplit, Wirecast and Vmix.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Seen With A Broken Screen

It was only a matter of time before the first Galaxy Note 9 images appeared online from someone who had access to the phone before the official announcement. Unfortunately, these images are not impressive, showing the phone in a rather… unpleasant state. This seems to confirm many of the rumors so far, but it might suggest that it does not use the new Gorilla Glass 6 as the image unit is photographed with the glass on the screen already broken.

The information that can be extracted from these photos is that the back of the device really underwent the most changes, ie the dual camera system was now positioned above the fingerprint sensor. Otherwise, the phone looks almost identical to Galaxy Note 8 from last year. Being a black unit, which is quite standard, we cannot know what other colors Samsung has prepared, so far only the blue version is present in the images dropped on the internet.

On the front however, the phone has a cracked screen. There are already speculations suggesting that it is a display protection applied over the original one, but by looking at the edges of the phone, they are similar on both sides and there seem to be no cuts to the cameras and sensors on the front. Thus, this situation does not give much confidence in Samsung’s new phone in terms of shock resistance, but we do not even know why it was used before photos.

It is possible that this unit has even been used to test shock resistance, and the cracks are the result of several successive falls. Of course, there is a possibility that the one who got this prototype has dropped it. Unfortunately, for the one who launched the online images, several markers that can drive the unit were visible in the images, even if the IMEI and serial code were hidden. Ironically, the “do not leak info” message on the back is also visible.

The latter might suggest that we are dealing with a false photo, the message being specially added. Until Aug. 9 we will not know for sure whether this is really the final design of Galaxy Note 9 and what kind of glass Samsung uses in its construction. Considering that Gorilla Glass 6 was just been announced, there is little chance that Samsung will get components from Corning so fast. However, being the number one smartphone on the market, there is an opportunity for an understanding between the two companies.

New Green-Dot Feature Makes Instagram Users Unhappy

If you’re an Instagram user, maybe you have noticed it too, the green dot that shows next to the profile pic of people on your list. Instagram clarifies that “You will only see status for friends who follow you or people who you have talked to in Direct,” so it encourages dm’ing people that you’ve already talked to before and also suggests new people that you can direct message (DM) with.

You can deactivate this feature in the “Activity Status” in the app’s Settings, the status is on by default.

By adding these features, Instagram begins to look a lot like the other social media platform, Facebook. We could call it “The Facebookification” of Instagram.

The dot status may not seem like too much of a change. These changes are often so subtle that are barely noticeable. Well, that is especially if you’re not exactly a compulsive user of social media.

Earlier, another feature that was introduced by Instagram is showing how many minutes ago someone in your DM list was active. This information is displayed as a grey status text, “Active 2 hrs ago” or “Active Now”. This feature looks exactly like Facebook Messenger.

This subtle changes are meant to turning Instagram into Facebook-like application where, the accent is put on sharing experiences in the now, rather than taking your time, making memories and than “latergramming”.

Most users, the ones who prefer the old calm and peaceful Instagram, are not very happy with the changes. For example, a demand was made to the company to return to the old chronological feed, but we all know how that ended. The Facebookification of Instagram is marching on. They are now working on an in-app time management, that is meant to reduce the attentional toll of these new features.

It’s not like users are thrilled about knowing when a person is  “active” or “online”. Mostly, the changes are meant to create a compulsive behavior, for users to keep using the app as much as possible. It’s a shame that Instagram is following down on Facebook path.

iPhone X’s On-screen Gestures Features on any iPhone with iOS 11

The iPhone X’s on-screen gestures feature is one of the most popular among users. It seems to have redefined the touchscreen interaction. The possibility of using the device by making some gestures on the screen is necessary because the iPhone X has a nearly bezel-less display and no Home button.

On the other hand, the iPhone X’s exclusive swipe gestures can be added on any other Apple phone. The only condition is that the device needs to be jailbroken. If your iOS 11 system has a reliable jailbreak, a mod will bring the mentioned feature to your iPhone equipped with Home button.

Thanks to this addition, you’ll be able to enjoy the same gesture-based abilities even if you don’t own the X. The best part is that you’ll also have some side button shortcuts (the Sleep/ Wake buttons). If you can’t wait to try it, you should know another important advantage – you can find this jailbreak tweak inside Cydia.

How to install the tweak

The tweak we’re talking about is called Little X. You can get it very easy by simply opening Cydia, then taping on the search function icon. Here you have to type the keyword “littlex” in the search bar. After it appears in the field with results, tap the tweak once.

This step will redirect you to the Details page. Here you have to tap on Modify category, which is situated in the upper part. Now the installation begins and you will see a confirmation prompt appearing from the bottom half. After you hit Install, you will go to the next page.

All you have to do now is tap Confirm (in the upper right). Now, just wait while the tweak is downloaded on your device. When the process is complete, restart the iPhone by selecting the Restart SpringBoard button and the installation will be complete. LittleX is ready for tweaking and you can enjoy the on-screen gesture feature on any iPhone.
