The New 5G mmWave Antenna Module for QTM052 Smartphones

Two innovative 5G antenna modules were announced by Qualcomm on Monday Morning. These gadgets are the mmWave-capable QTM052 and sub-6 GHz QPM56xx.

Details about the antennas

Qualcomm says that QTM052 is the next breakthrough in technology. With the help of this antenna, they achieved the goal to create a mmWave antenna minuscule enough to be featured into a smartphone.

The director of 5G product marketing from Qualcomm, Sherif Hanna, confirms that this technology was considered to be impossible to create. Another significant achievement about this array is that it is small enough even four of it could be fitted in the smartphone based on QEM’s design.

If a smartphone takes advantage of its QTM052 antenna arrays, it can send mmWave radio signals even though not every one of them is working.

Hanna states in an interview on MobileSyrup:

“It was important for us to do this because mmWave is such a new technology for everyone involved. It impacts every aspect of a device’s design — from the industrial design and form factor to the thermals and materials. We felt compelled to give OEMs an all-in-one solution that they can take and integrate into their own devices, helping them get over the hump of this very complex design challenge to get mmWave working in mobile devices.”

Tests

While being tested, 4.5 Gigabits per second was the speed of downloading a prototype smartphone equipped by Qualcomm with an X50 modem, and a couple of QTM052 antennas has achieved. Outside the lab, the company says that such a combination would generate a speed of downloading of at least 1.4Gbps. Regarding the sub-6 GHz QPM56xx antenna array an estimated 500-600 Megabits per second speed is expected.

To sum up, if you are excited about this breakthrough, keep in mind that these antenna arrays were already sent to network operators and smartphone makers, according to Qualcomm which also expects a first device featuring QTM052 to appear in early 2019.

Electra iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak Now Gets Safe Mode

Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak just got the newly added Safe Mode, a move which places Electra solutions in line with past iOS jailbreak tools which all possessed such a mode thanks to the Cydia Substrate. But, in order to get this update, you must follow some steps. Here’s what you should do to get the new Safe Mode in Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak.

For those users with devices which already run Electra iOS 11.3.1, it is advisable to update the packages using with Cydia, as soon as possible. By doing so, several updates will install within Tweak Injector and Substitute, which generally are downloaded and installed almost instantaneously.

After this procedure ends, the device will run an updated Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak which will benefit from the latest additions but also of the newly added Safe Mode which would protect the iOS-powered devices if anything goes wrong with one of the packages installed.

New Safe Mode added in Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak

Similarly to the first iOS jailbreak solutions, the new Safe Mode added to Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak would engage itself when something goes wrong and will notify the users about that via its UI with the following text:

Springboard ran into a problem and is now in Safe Mode. Sileo/Tweak Loader did not cause this problem but rather protected you from it. If this does not usually happen, you can safely press the button below to go back to normal mode. If that doesn’t work, please uninstall one of your tweaks through Sileo.

The text is followed by a white button that reads “Respring.” If the Safe Mode is not engaging too often, you’re safe to press that button and carry on your regular activity on your device. However, if the problem is persistent, you should re-install one of your tweaks via Sileo.

Unfortunately, this new Safe Mode added in Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak doesn’t say which tweak caused the issues.

iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak Re-Enabled

Several jailbreak users complained that they could not re-enable their Electra Jailbreak. In this article, I will show you how is possible to restore iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak solution, thanks to iCrackUriDevice from BestTechInfo. According to him, this solution is up to 90% reliable and solves out all the iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak issues. The solution also works for iOS 11.4 jailbreak.

At first, it’s essential that your iOS device is already running an Electra jailbreak solution.

Re-enable iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak

If you’re running iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak but something goes wrong, and you want to re-enable the solution, here are the steps to follow in order to restore it:

  • Go to Open Settings -> General -> iDevice Storage and cancel and delete any pending updates via OTA;
  • Put your device into Airplane Mode and reboot it;
  • Once your device has successfully rebooted, let it on the Home screen for more than one minute;
  • When the minute is up, open and run the iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak;
  • Go to multitasking force Electra to close, then restart the solution and tap on “Enable Jailbreak”;

Electra jailbreak re-enabling on iOS 11.4

Instead of running the Multipath version of iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak, the iOS 11.4 demands the use of the VFS version of Electra, a fact which makes the restoration of the jailbreak solution trickier.

Thus, keep in mind that the following steps should only be taken if you’re running iOS 11.4 or the before-mentioned iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak re-enabling is not correctly functioning for you.

Follow the next steps to re-enable iOS 11.4 Electra jailbreak:

  • Under Settings -> Siri & Search section, disable Siri;
  • Under Settings -> [User Name] -> iCloud section, turn off the Find My iPhone function;
  • In Settings -> Touch ID/Face ID & Passcode, disable the Passcode option;
  • Follow the steps presented above for the iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak restoration;

iOS 11.4 Downgrade No Longer Available – iOS 11.4.1 Has Been Already Released

Not long ago, iOS 11.4.1 was released by Apple and it includes some performance improvements and bug fixes. Following this release, Apple has stopped signing the previous version of iOS, which means that it will no longer be available to consumers. With iOS 11.4 not being signed anymore, all users of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will not be able to downgrade to this version from now on, thus also making jailbreaking impossible.

How is this affecting the jailbreaking community?

We all know that when the tech giant decides to put an end to an older version of iOS, jailbreak users are the ones that are affected the most by this. In recent times, jailbreaking has made quite a recovery, as it has had noteworthy releases for the most recent iOS versions. However, the fact that iOS 11.4 has stopped being signed by Apple could pose some problems to the jailbreaking community, as all efforts made so far could have been in vain.

Apple is known for regularly stopping the signing of older versions of software updates once they have a new release, so that customers will be motivated to keep their operating system updated.

What’s next?

As we mentioned before, iOS 11.4.1 is now going to be the only version of iOS 11 that users will be able to install on their iOS devices. At the moment, we do not know if any other iOS 11.x releases will take place. What we know is that Apple is only beta testing iOS 12 and the new operating system is expected to launch later this year. Also, public beta testers and developers can already download iOS 12.

Nonetheless, if you have a jailbroken device and you still haven’t made the update, we’d recommend you to ignore it for now, as the latest update from Apple does not have a jailbreak available yet.
