New 16-inch MacBook Pro, Along With a 32-inch 6K Monitor, To Come Out in 2019

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst, Apple would launch a new 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 32-inch 6K monitor this year. The information went online thanks to MacRumors, a tech news portal, which, reportedly, obtained a release note from Kuo.

Apple Would Launch a New 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2019

This year’s MacBook lineup would be focused on a new 16-inch MacBook Pro which would be the largest laptop made by Apple since the company has shut down the production of 17-inch MacBooks in 2012.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the MacBook Pro in question might eventually come out with a 16.5-inch display. Also, the 2019 MacBook series would also sport a 13-inch model with support for up to 32 Gb of RAM, an amount that, until now, can only be mounted on the 15-inch MacBook Pro variant.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s statements seem to be in line with those of Apple’s Phil Schiller who declared in 2017 that, “with regards to the Mac Pro, we are in the process of what we call ‘completely rethinking the Mac Pro.’ We’re working on it. We have a team working hard on it right now, and we want to architect it so that we can keep it fresh with regular improvements, and we’re committed to making it our highest-end, high-throughput desktop system, designed for our demanding pro customers.”

A 32-inch 6K Monitor Might Also Come Out This Year From Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo Believes

Apple ceased the production and sale of displays in 2016 when the Cupertino-based company rolled out the Thunderbolt Display. Until now, no other monitor made by Apple reached the shelves of the stores, so it might be the right time for the tech giant to come up with something special.

And according to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is going to launch a 32-inch 6K monitor in 2019, along with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Kuo referred to this display as “6k3k,” as reported by MacRumors. That’s also in line with what Phil Schiller stated back in 2017: “As part of doing a new Mac Pro – it is, by definition, a modular system – we will be doing a pro display as well. Now you won’t see any of those products this year; we’re in the process of that. We think it’s essential to create something great for our pro customers who want a Mac Pro modular system, and that’ll take longer than this year to do.”

First 2019 iPhone Models Would Be Red iPhone XS and XS Max

At the moment, both iPhone XS and XS Max are only available in silver, black, and gold. However, that would change this month when Apple plans to launch red iPhone XS and XS Max as its first 2019 iPhone models.

The rumor came out thanks to a post on Weibo, the most famous Chinese social network. MacRumors took the information and presented it yesterday. According to Weibo, it seems that the new red iPhone XS and XS Max would only be available in China as the iPhone sales in this country are much lower than expected. However, Apple might not limit the sales for its upcoming iPhone XS and XS Max in red color only to China.

The report on Weibo also says that red variants of iPhone XS and XS Max would come out later this month. “Apple globally launched a mid-cycle (PRODUCT)RED edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in March 2017 and a similar edition for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in April 2018, so the timing wouldn’t be completely off. Apple already sells a (PRODUCT)RED variant of the iPhone XR,” MacRumors pointed out.

First 2019 iPhone Models Would Be Red iPhone XS and XS Max

On the other hand, as regards the other iPhone of the 2018 lineup, “Apple’s iPhone XR has had a red color variant since launch. So, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Apple release red versions of the iPhone XS and XS Max, to drum up sales,” Business Insider highlighted.

“If there’s any weight to today’s rumor of a red iPhone XS and XS coming to China, it could potentially signal the early launch of PRODUCT(RED) versions for the rest of the world, although nothing is certain. Rumors last year of a mid-cycle PRODUCT(RED) edition of the iPhone X never transpired, for example,” MacRumors reported.

In short, according to a rumor coming from Weibo, Apple might launch its first 2019 iPhone models this month – iPhone XS and XS Max in red color. However, both devices, which initially rolled out in 2018, won’t come out with any other changes except the new color.

iOS 13 Would Get System-Wide Dark Mode, And, Now, Here’s How It Might Look Like

While at the moment the only method to get the dark theme on iOS devices is to activate the so-called “smart invert” feature, but it is problematic, for the time being. Reportedly, iOS 13 would come out with a system-wide dark mode. Now, here’s how it might look like.

iOS 13 To Receive a System-Wide Dark Mode

Now, that Mac devices got their system-wide dark mode thanks to the latest macOS Mojave version, it is the right time for iOS-based smartphones and tablets to get a similar mode. As reported by XDA-Developers, iOS 13 might come with a system-wide dark mode of its own.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the dark mode in iOS 13 would roll out across all the iPhone and iPad applications, meaning that common apps like dialer, contacts, iMessages, and Settings, as well as the menus, would get the upcoming dark theme. Also, the article on Bloomberg said that the dark mode would also support the main third-party apps on iOS 13.

Here’s How The Dark Mode in iOS 13 Might Look Like

Now, we don’t know for sure how Apple thought the upcoming iOS 13 dark mode, but we can get a glimpse of how it might look like thanks to a one-year-old iOS 12 concept. As we know, iOS 12 is not boasting a system-wide dark theme, so the concept might still apply to iOS 13, the mobile operating system that Apple plans to launch in fall 2019.

Nonetheless, the dark mode is beneficial for users and, as Google and other tech companies, even Apple, are already implementing it in some of their apps, programs, and products, the Cupertino-based company might also add it to iOS 13 as it has already done it in macOS Mojave. The dark mode helps users reduce the strain of staring at a bright screen, while it can also save the devices’ battery since the screens consume less power to display dark color than when showing bright ones.

Here is the iOS 12 concept that offers us a preview of how the dark mode on iOS 13 might look like:

iOS 13 Won’t Support Older iPhone Smartphones, Reportedly

An Israeli site came up with a very concerning rumor for the owners of some older iPhone smartphones. According to the portal, iOS 13 won’t support old iPhone devices, from iPhone 5S to iPhone 6S. Apple did not confirm the rumors, so we should take it with a grain of salt until the Cupertino-based company comes out with an announcement in that regard.

“The company is currently completing the process of building the operating system, iOS 13, which will be presented for the first time at the company’s annual developer conference, the WWDC 2019, which will take place this June. According to previous years, the update is expected to be released to all users for free in September, together with the launch of the new iPhones,” the Israeli site, The Verifier, stated.

“But just before we get a look at the next update of the iOS 13 operating system and what the innovations will be, we can say today that the company will lower support for several iPhones and iPads that will not be updated,” the news portal continued.

Reportedly, iOS 13 Won’t Support Older iPhone Smartphones

The Verifier, the Israeli site that came out with the rumor that iOS 13 won’t support older iPhone smartphones and iPad models, also presented a list of the devices that won’t get the update. According to them, the following iPhones and iPads won’t get iOS 13:

  • iPhone 6s Plus – Update is in question
  • iPhone
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone SE – Update is in question
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPad Mini 2
  • iPad Mini 3
  • iPad mini 4 – Update is in question
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPod touch 6th generation

We should not take this rumors as true, at least not until Apple confirms it. However, The Verifier provided some accurate news regarding Apple and its iPhone smartphones and iPad tablets. If indeed iOS 13 won’t support iPhone smartphones, owners of devices from the list above would have nothing else to do than use iOS 12 versions or upgrade to newer iDevices.
