The New Chromecast 2018 Presented By Google Yesterday During The “Made by Google” Conference

In the event that Google has held in New York, the giant Internet company presented the new Chromecast 2018. It’s still small, excellent and cheap as its predecessor was, so why would they provide a new one? The truth is that the new Chromecast doesn’t differ much from the old one, as it still maintains its maximum resolution of 1080p and still has a wireless connection via Wi-Fi.

This Chromecast is already on sale and is capable of executing Google Home orders. As for the physical aspect, it recovers the design of its predecessor. According to Google, however, this new generation of Chromecast is more potent than the previous one, as it is 15% faster.

Among the new features the Chromecast brings, we have the so-called Multi-room support. In short, it offers the possibility of playing the same content in different rooms, as long as you have compatible devices. The downside of this functionality is that the “Multi-room” support is not yet active, but it will arrive soon following an update.

The new Chromecast 2018 presented during the Made by Google event is already available

On the other hand, they have significantly improved the connection between Chromecast 3 and the Google Home Mini. At the moment, Chromecast 3 is halfway there, as it serves as a connecting thread between Google Home and TV. This new Chromecast is available on the official Google website in two colors, namely, in white and black.

The new Chromecast costs only $35 and is available from today. It is now available on Google’s website dedicated to the device. Besides this new gadget, Google also revealed its new smartphones, Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL during the Made by Google event, held recently.

Since you know all the details of the new Chromecast 2018, and think that you might need this device, just go to Google’s Chromecast website and get one.

Alphabet Shuts Down Google Plus Due To Private Data Leak

Alphabet Inc will eliminate the consumer version of its erroneous social network Google Plus, and made its data sharing policies stricter, as they announced yesterday that a private data leak affecting at least 500,000 people happened. According to the announcement, several hundred external developers accessed users’ data.

In a review posted by Google on its official blog, the giant Internet company announced that no developer exploited the vulnerability or misused data. Also, according to the Wall Street Journal, Google did not reveal its security issues because it feared regulatory scrutiny.

Google did not want a comparison with Facebook

Google, the renowned Internet giant, feared of people comparing it with Facebook which was involved in a private data leak scandal along with Cambridge Analytica. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sundar Pichai, the Google chief executive, was briefed on this problem, but Google offered no official statement.

“Users have the right to be notified if their information could have been compromised. This is a direct result of the scrutiny that Facebook dealt with regarding the Cambridge Analytica scandal,” explained Jacob Lehmann, the Managing Director at the legal firm Friedman CyZen.

Google Plus and its version for businesses

Google launched its Google Plus social network in 2011 in a movement to compete with Facebook which, back then, became the world’s first social media platform.

Google Plus adopted Facebook’s status updates and news feeds, while it also allowed people to organize groups of friends into what the Internet giant called “circles.” However, Facebook implemented many features in comparison with Google Plus. Furthermore, the Google Plus bug found this Monday exposed users to a private data leak, such as name, email address, occupation, gender, and age, as reported by Google.

The Google Plus for enterprises would remain valid, while the Google company would implement new features to forbid private data leak.

Google Launched Project Stream to Allow Players Play Video Games Via the Chrome Browser

It had been rumored since the beginning of the year that Google was working on a platform related to video games streaming, and the company finally announced Project Stream. Although it’s not yet released as a final product, this service will allow AAA games to be played in the same way as PlayStation Now or GeForce Now, only through Google Chrome. The first game available would be Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which can be played from any desktop operating system, be it Windows, macOS, Linux, and even Chrome OS.

The Google Project Stream beta is open to a limited number of participants, who will be able to play the Ubisoft game for free starting from October 5th. The minimum recommended connection to use the service is 25 Mbps, in addition to having both Google and Ubisoft accounts. It is also necessary to be over 17 years old and live in the United States.

With the advancement of fiber optic Internet connections, it makes sense to have more and more stream-based services. Rendering the game content on a remote computer is cheaper and more convenient for many users than having to buy a computer or the physical copy of a game. Thus, you will always have the best graphics quality, and you will be able to play on any system, regardless of its performance.

The Google Project Stream would run games in 1080p resolution and at 60 FPS

However, the only drawback of Google Project Stream is the latency. First, the input from the keyboard or controller must reach the server, render the image, compress it, and send it back, which makes it unsuitable for more demanding gaming. Accordingly, casual games would run smoothly.

One of the essential features of the Project Stream is the number of titles that are available, as during E3 2018 Google supposedly contacted multiple developers to include some of their games on the platform.

This year Google hired Phil Harrison, who has worked for both Sony and Microsoft in the segments of PlayStation and Xbox, but the company did not specify the division in which he is going to work. Today, we already know that he has something to do with this new Google Project Stream.

Project Stream could also reach TVs through an app or Chromecast, the only issue being that the current Chromecast version doesn’t have Bluetooth, but the upcoming Chromecast 3 will do, allowing it to be paired with peripherals.

Google Ads To Remove Cryptocurrency Advertisements Ban in October

The renowned Google announced, through its support page, that it will partially eliminate the cryptocurrency ads ban it maintained since earlier this year on Google Ads. In this way, starting with October 2018, crypto advertisements will be allowed only for regulated cryptocurrency exchange platforms located in the United States and Japan. The restriction is still maintained for Initial Coins Offerings (ICOs), crypto wallets, and crypto investments consultants.

Cryptocurrency exchange platforms which want to advertise themselves on Google must obtain a certification issued by the company, to be authorized to conduct marketing campaigns, as Google reported in a statement released on September 25th.

Google Ads will allow cryptocurrency advertisements in the US and Japan starting with October 2018

Google Ads policy on financial products and services will be updated in October 2018 to enable regulated crypto exchanges to advertise their services in the United States and Japan. Advertisers must obtain a Google certification in the specific country in which they want to publish their cryptocurrency advertisements.

Last March, Google announced that it would begin restricting ads related to crypto coins and ICOs due to a change within its Google Ads’ financial services policy. The measure published 6 months ago went into effect in June this year. At that time, Scott Spencer, Director of Product Management and Sustainable Ads at Google, said they had seen “enough damage to the consumer or possible damage” through fraudulent advertising, so they made the decision to ban cryptocurrency advertisements.

The Google Ads’ decision to ban cryptocurrency advertisements affected the cryptos market

After Google’s decision was announced at the end of March 2018, the cryptocurrencies market suffered a fall due to the possibility of new regulatory measures. This brought the Bitcoin (BTC) price from $9,100 per unit to about $8,300, a drop of 8% in only 24 hours.

Now, Google Ads decided to remove the ban on cryptocurrency advertisements, similarly to Facebook which on June 26th announced that it considers revoking the decision to prohibit ads related to crypto coins. Both companies kept the interdiction on ICOs.

Google Drive Gets “Priority” Artificial Intelligence To Organize Documents Better

The technology we use every day is getting smarter and smarter, from mobile cameras that help take better pictures according to the scene and email apps that facilitate quick replies to document management programs like Google Drive that is now able to organize files better thanks to artificial intelligence. Google has announced the imminent arrival of a new smart tool for its Google Drive service, called Priority.

“We are adding a new page in the left navigation pane of Google Drive that helps find and manage the most appropriate Drive files at that time,” Google said on its blog.

The artificial intelligence of this new tool studies the habits of each user to determine which documents are needed at any given time and put them at the top of the list.

“Our studies show that most users only work with about 10 or 20 files at any given time,” explained Google.

Google Drive to use artificial intelligence to organize documents

Although Google Drive already prioritized the last documents that had been used, the novelty would now be in the so-called workspaces, which allow collecting a private set of files to facilitate access, without affecting their storage or permissions. The Priority artificial intelligence organizes these workspaces according to the user’s preferences in order to save the time of administration or search of a file.

However, the system also allows the user to manually design the distribution of those documents.

Additionally, besides organizing the documents, another goal of the new Google Drive artificial intelligence tool is to simplify the display of comments and some suggested actions as “you will be able to respond to some comments directly through the Drive interface and open entire documents with a single click.”

At the moment we will have to wait to see how much time this new function saves for Google Drive, as it is currently in its Beta version, so it is only available to a small group of customers who have G Suite Basic, Business and Enterprise accounts.
