Microsoft’s New Surface Pro Will Feature an Unexpected Processor

According to the folks at Thurrott, Microsoft has decided to create a couple of new versions of its Surface Pro tablets which are powered by Intel processors. Surface Pro 6 is the latest model that Microsoft offers and it is powered by Intel Core i5 or Core i7. Well, it looks like Microsoft has been inspired by the likes of Apple who launch multiple versions of its iPad Pro because the Windows parent is reportedly getting ready to launch a couple of new Surface Pro models that are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor.

Surface Pro with Qualcomm Processor

Even though Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processors are quite popular with other companies, Microsoft has never shown interested. This might change during the upcoming months because the folks at Thurrott are reporting that the Microsoft has already created a couple of Surface Pro prototype models that are fueled by a Snapdragon processor. Nonetheless, what we can take from this is that ARM-based laptops and tablets are losing their popularity.

Surface Go

We should also mention that Microsoft is rumored to be working on a special tablet called Surface Go. What makes this tablet special is the fact that its being developed specially to compete against Apple’s iPad. Seeing how Microsoft has started using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, we might see the same happening to Surface Go. In addition, Microsoft is probably going to go with the latest Snapdragon 855 octa-core CPU.

A New Design

Since we previously talked about Microsoft’s new Surface Pro models, we want to go over the fact that they are expected to ship with a brand-new design. While we might not have that much official information about the ne Surface Pro designs, we do know that they will feature the much-awaited USB-C Port.

Microsoft To Combine Xbox Live Gold With Xbox Game Pass [which just got Minecraft]

We just talked about the incredible sale of Minecraft in the past 10 years since it launched on PC, and it’s still rising. The sales will continue to get higher not just on PC, but also on more platforms if Microsoft will combine the two subscriptions into a single one.

As reported by Twitter user @h0x0d, we could see a new service from Microsoft called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate:

https://twitter.com/h0x0d/status/1114159135048646657?s=20

This person claims that the service will only be $14.99 per month, which is quite the bargain, considering Xbox owners will save almost $5 per month if Microsoft really wants to combine the services. As The Verge pointed out, Microsoft will certainly reveal something about this in the next weeks when they will unveil the disc-less Xbox One S All-Digital edition.

Why should we trust what @h0x0d tweeted?

It’s simple: it makes perfect sense, and it’s a good strategy, which has been used in the past by Microsoft. Remember the Xbox All Access subscription which bundled together with a leased Xbox One X, Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Game Pass for $34.99/month? Probably that one-time offer was testing the reaction of users and how the bundling service was received by players.

Considering all the aggressive marketing around the Xbox Game Pass and the fact that the disc-less Xbox One is counting on the digital games offered through the Microsoft services, a bundle named Xbox Game Pass Ultimate isn’t far-fetched.

The games added to the Xbox Game Pass since it launched are Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3, and Minecraft was recently added. Microsoft is also working on the xCloud streaming service to let players stream games on different platforms (PCs, smartphones/tablets, consoles).

Xbox Maverick, The Disc-Less Xbox One, Would Launch In May

A series of rumors which surfaced in the past claimed that Microsoft is working on a disc-less Xbox One variant aimed at people who prefer to buy their games digitally. It was codenamed Xbox Maverick, but we recently found out that its name would be Xbox One S “All-Digital Edition.” Xbox Maverick would launch in May.

Disc-less Xbox One would come out in May, before E3 2019

A reliable source claims that the rumors are real and the new Xbox One model would be released across all the existing Xbox markets which can be found in the world. A previous report suggested that Microsoft will reveal the disc-less Xbox One and another premium variant during the E3 conference which is scheduled for June. Microsoft has plenty of time at its disposal, and it may change its options in the following weeks.

However, some analysts believe that Microsoft will reveal the next generation of Xbox consoles at E3. It is thought that the device will offer a substantial power improvement in that will overtake the native 4K capabilities of the Xbox One X. Accordingly, the disc-less Xbox One, the Xbox Maverick, would come out before E3, in May.

The firsts clues which suggested that Microsoft is working on a next-generation console surfaced in 2017 when the device was first spotted under the codename of Xbox Scarlett. At E3 2018 Xbox chief Phil Spencer teased that the company is hard at work on the internal architecture of a new Xbox console and promised that the device would be able to impose a new benchmark for console gaming.

Microsoft might announce next-generation consoles at E3 2019

Several sources note that Microsoft plans to two consoles at the start. Xbox Anaconda will be a powerhouse, employing the latest AMD processor to deliver unrivaled performance and a high-power AMD GPU should provide an impressive graphical experience, but the price could be on par with the improved specifications.

Xbox Lockhart will be a budget version, but most details have remained shrouded in mystery at this point. It is likely that it is based on the Xbox One S and the features provided should be more than enough for the average gamer.

Until Microsoft provides an official announcement, we can only hope that the next generation of Xbox consoles and the disc-less Xbox One will be as great as they appear to be.
