Nintendo To Stop Supporting Netflix For Wii in 2019

Recently, Netflix emailed its customers and posted a warning that Nintendo would stop supporting Netflix for Wii. So, if you’re still using an old Wii console just to watch Netflix, you should opt for an alternative as starting with January 31st, 2019, Nintendo will suspend Netflix on Wii.

Along with the suspension of the Netflix for Wii, Nintendo would also shut down the Wii Shop channel. Nintendo also announced that the Wii consoles will become useless, although users can still play offline games, as long as they already have video games copies bought.

“We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device,” Netflix representatives said. Netflix is, therefore, not offering any alternative to users but opting for a newer device that still supports the most popular online video streaming service in the world.

Nintendo To Stop Supporting Netflix For Wii in 2019

While for some Wii users the decision took by Nintendo to stop supporting Netflix for Wii as of January 31st, 2019, comes as a surprise, for others, it’s only a logical step. And, indeed, Wii is a 12-year-old console and Nintendo has already begun closing Wii channels in 2013. On the other hand, nowadays, Netflix is ubiquitous in comparison with how it was when it came out on Wii consoles.

If you’re still “in love” with your Wii console, you’ll still be able to play games on it, as long as you have the copies of those games because, as of January 31st, 2019, Nintendo will also shut down the Wii channel.

Now, if your TV is not smart and doesn’t come with pre-installed Netflix app, you’ll have to opt for a streaming device. In reality, it would be much cheaper than you imagine. On the other hand, if you’re using an older TV model without modern-day inputs, since Nintendo will stop supporting Netflix for Wii, it would leave you with no other choice than buying a new TV set to access Netflix or use Netflix on other devices.

The New Nintendo 64 Mini Release Date Leaks

The Nintendo 64 mini or N64 mini is a console which used to be so popular among players who provided the mother company with quite some revenue from their product. Unfortunately, no rumor about the Nintendo 64 mini consoled has received official confirmation from the main company, nor other information was provided, but you never know when something on the internet might end up being true. If Nintendo releases the console, it will come with old hit games that everybody misses. It will be the console of our childhood.

As Twitter and Reddit are so used for providing leaks about different topics, we reached out there. It looks like a person who goes by the name of Nacho & Pistachio twitted some pictures of the Nintendo 64 mini console that look pretty real. However, the pictures might not be camera-shot and actually created on a computer. Take a look at these images and share your opinion. Are they real or computer render?

N64 Release Date

If Nintendo announces the existence of this console, then it might be available for purchase by the end of this year if it will be following the previous miniature iterations’ same trend.

N64 Price Details

Taking everything into consideration and especially the fact that no official confirmation has been received for this mini console, we do not know the exact price of the N64 mini. However, we can still make our guesses. If we take into consideration the prices of NES and SNES mini, then this one should be about $100.

It is not too big of a price to pay for a console that would bring back the sweet feeling of childhood that everybody had been abducted from too early. The old games will offer you some relief.

Nintendo To Be An Entertainment Business Rather Than A Gaming One

At the annual GeekWire Summit in Seattle, held earlier this week, Nintendo America’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime debated lots of topics. He discussed how Nintendo would be defined. According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo wants to be an entertainment business rather than a gaming one.

Nintendo America’s President and COO explained his statement by presenting how the company runs, at the moment, three distinct, separated areas of business. Namely, Nintendo operates video gaming business, mobile gaming, and theme parks and movies.

Next, Reggie Fils-Aime pointed out that, beyond Nintendo Switch and 3DS, other efforts were the company’s significant drivers. He gave Super Mario Run as an example of how they plan to deliver its IP to consumers in different ways.

Nintendo Wants To Be An Entertainment Business Rather Than A Gaming One

“That’s our vision for mobile: to deliver our intellectual property in compelling ways to consumers who may not have experienced those properties before. A belief that they’ll come back, maybe buy a Mario T-shirt, eat that Mario cereal, or buy a Switch, because of affiliation and affection they have with that IP,” said Fils-Aime.

According to Nintendo America’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo intentionally slowed down its mobile games rollout and direct ports. He said that Nintendo thinks that building unique experiences for mobile platforms is crucial and the Japanese company struggled to come up with the best methods for monetizing their apps.

“Home system games, if transplanted to a mobile device, wouldn’t transfer as well. We needed to work through monetization as we’re driven to make money. And we needed to work through how to be effective on platforms and marketplaces that we ourselves don’t own. That took time,” added Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo America’s President and COO.

In other news, Nintendo plans on releasing a new, updated Nintendo Switch next year.

New Nintendo Switch Rumored For 2019 – Here’s Everything We Know About It!

According to the online media The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is preparing a new Nintendo Switch console for 2019. It would be the same console but updated and with an improved display. According to the before-mentioned news portal, that would be an effective way for Nintendo to boost its sales for the console.

While it is more likely for Nintendo to use LCD technology, there is a small chance that an OLED display will be introduced. Thus, using an improved display, the screen thickness would be lowered, battery consumption would be improved, and weight would be reduced.

However, Nintendo did not offer any details, so we can’t know just yet what kind of hardware the rumored Nintendo Switch 2019 console would include. It might not even be a whole new generation of Nintendo Switch, but it could be only a hardware-upgraded version of the current Nintendo Switch console.

Nintendo plans to release a new Nintendo Switch in 2019

According to Wall Street Journal, the new Nintendo Switch console would come out around mid-2019, even though Nintendo didn’t offer an exact date. This information has been revealed by a group of experts close to Nintendo’s suppliers, who shared the rumors with the before-mentioned news portal.

The problem we think about right now is whether or not the currently Nintendo Switch games would be compatible with the new Nintendo Switch 2019 variant. In case they’re not, as it happens with PlayStation or Xbox games when a new console arrives, Nintendo might not register as many sales as they expect. Therefore, according to the fans, Nintendo should opt for an upgraded version but still compatible with the current Nintendo Switch games.

However, many Nintendo fans expect a Lite/Slim version of the Nintendo Switch console that would still be compatible with the games of the current console and that, at the same time, is cheaper. But, almost unanimously, most Switch gamers agree that the new Nintendo Switch 2019 variant should boast a better battery for higher autonomy.

N64 Classic Edition Suggested By A Recently Revealed Nintendo Patent

A recently revealed update to a Nintendo patent suggests that we might have an N64 Classic Edition soon.

Nintendo patent hints to the release of an N64 Classic Edition

Initially filed in July 2017 before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Nintendo patent revealed that the Japanese company is working to a new controller that looks pretty much the same as the one on the N64 console. Similarly, in May this year, Nintendo filed the same patent to the Japanese authorities.

Now, however, the original patents received new updates from the authorities, as the EUIPO commission approved the registration of the Nintendo patent the Japanese company issued in July 2017.

But, Nintendo did not offer any official information on a possible N64 Classic Edition, even though the patents went online along with a bunch of rumors saying the such a console would come out soon.

Nintendo ignited the classic console craze in 2016 with its NES Classic

If that’s indeed going to happen, it wouldn’t be a first for Nintendo which ignited the classic consoles comeback buzz in 2016 when it released an NES Classic, a remaster of the Nintendo Entertainment System, which featured 30 games. In 2017, the Japanese company launched a SNES Classic console, too.

On the other hand, following the Nintendo steps, Sony has also announced the release of a PlayStation Classic that would cost $100 and come out with 20 pre-installed games.

Back to Nintendo, the Japanese manufacturer has dozens of great  NES games it could include in the potentially upcoming NES Classic console. Among the most appreciated titles, noteworthy are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., and Pokemon Stadium.

Although we have no official information in this regard, the Nintendo patent filed before EUIPO and Japanese authorities, as well, suggests the upcoming release of an N64 Classic Edition.
