Pokemon Go Receives Smeargle, And You Can Capture It Using The New “Go Snapshot” Feature

Niantic releases constant updates for Pokemon Go, and the game receives numerous new additions, including events, Pokemon, and others. This time, Smeargle has become available in Pokemon GO. Players can now catch this Generation 2 Pokemon using the newly added Go Snapshot feature.

It is exciting to see Smeargle join the game, as we didn’t know whether his abilities could particular to Pokemon Go. Smeargle comes in the game with the Sketch skill which allows it to copy the powers of other Pokemon monsters. It is easy to understand why this could be a problem for the game, and it took some time until developers added this Generation 2 Pokemon to Pokemon Go.

Here’s how to capture Smeargle in Pokemon Go using the new Go Snapshot feature

To catch Smeargle, you must use the Go Snapshot. That means that you will have to become a photographer for a while. If you continue to take photos, you might spot Smeargle in one of them. After the Pokemon shows up in one of your photos, you should also see a catchable Smeargle show up in the wild.

If you manage to capture Smeargle, you should know that his original ability is a bit different in Pokemon Go. You will also have a chance to use the Go Snapshot feature when it comes to its particular skill. After you captured Smeargle, you can use the Go Snapshot function to take photos of other Pokemon so that Smeargle can “Sketch” their abilities.

You should also know that it is not possible to get all the abilities of other Pokemon. For instance, Ditto’s Transform special skill is not transferable. You need to select a Pokemon with abilities you want to copy and sketch it. Basically, this allows you to create some sort of copy of that Pokemon. However, keep in mind that Smeargle’s CP doesn’t go over 500.

Catch Smeargle In Pokemon GO in Four Easy Steps

We’ve said about the Generation 2 Pokemon that we didn’t see at all in the game a few days ago. It’s Smeargle, the ‘Mon with the most exciting moves in the game. Niantic has finally added it in Pokemon Go v.0.135.1, with the GO Snapshot that will let you take photos of the Pokemon you have in your collection.

But did you pay attention at the game hints in the loading screen? Somebody who was lucky enough did it and posted it on the Pokemon Go Twitter post which announced the following:

Trainers, #GOsnapshot is now live for Trainers level 5 and up! ? For Trainers level 5 and below, we encourage you to keep catching Pokémon and exploring the world of Pokémon GO, as level 5 will be the minimum level for Trainers to access this feature.

During the GO Snapshot sessions, you might encounter Smeargle that will photobomb your photo. You know that this Pokemon will copy the move of another Pokemon, so choose one that has a favorite move. Here is how to catch this elusive Pokemon.

Find and Catch Smeargle in Pokemon Go

  1. Choose a Pokemon with the move you want to copy and head to the Snapshot mode.
  2. Take photos of the Pokemon.
  3. Check if the snaps were photobombed by Smeargle.
  4. If Smeargle photobombed your shot, go to the map and catch Smeargle!

After you capture Smeargle, it will have the same move which it copied from the Pokemon you kept photographing. Smeargle will only show up once a day, so if you didn’t catch it or want to catch more, you can only get one per day. Also, some players took a long time before being photobombed by Smeargle – some waited for it for 200 shots, and others caught it in just 45 snaps!

Good luck!

Pokemon Go To Allow Players To Switch Teams, But Not For Free

Now, approximately two years after it rolled out, Pokemon Go will finally permit players to switch teams. However, that option is not going to be free. Niantic announced that it would add a new item called Team Medallion to the Pokemon Go in-game shop, which would make it possible for the gamers to change their teams once a year.

Pokemon Go To Allow Players To Switch Teams

Team Medallion would go live on February 26th and would cost 1,000 PokeCoins. That’s quite a fair price, overall, since 1,200 PokeCoin cost $10. But choose wisely before using Team Medallion because once you use it, you’ll not be able to buy a new one and change your team again for one year.

After a new player begins playing Pokemon Go, the game would ask him/her to join one of the three teams in the game – Mystic, Instinct, and Valor. These teams are governed by Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and, respectively, Moltres. Until February 26th, it would be impossible for players to switch sides, but, as soon as Team Medallion goes live, gamers can change their team.

Pokemon Go Also Received The Recently Announced Snapshot AR Photo Mode

In other news, Niantic added the recently announced Pokemon Go Snapshot AR Photo Mode. This one permits players to snap any of the Pokemon monsters they have in storage and share those pics with friends via social media.

Besides, we’ll have another busy weekend in Pokemon Go. Between today, February 22nd, and up till February 25th, Niantic returned the Gen 3 Legendary Pokemon Latias for a special Raid Weekend. Also, on February 23rd, tomorrow, a new Pokemon Go Field Research time-limited event would commence, allowing players to capture Clamperl that comes to Pokemon Go for the first time.

In short, Pokemon Go will finally permit players to switch teams via the new Team Medallion item which would come out on February 26th and would cost 1,000 PokeCoins.

Pokemon Go Limited Research To Feature Clamperl For The First Time

Just earlier, Niantic announced the next Pokemon Go Limited Research event. The uniqueness of this one would be the appearance of Clamperl in Pokemon Go for the first time in the game’s history.

This new Pokemon Go Limited Research would commence this Saturday, February 23rd, and it would last for only three hours, pretty much like the previous Pokemon Go Community Day event. During this Pokemon Go Limited Research, trainers would receive particular Field Research tasks any time they’ll be spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops.

Besides the newly introduced rare Gen 3 Pokemon, Clamperl, during the upcoming event, other Water Pokemon, such as Krabby and Wailmer, will be more frequent in the wild. Players who capture them would receive twice the average amount of Stardust for any Pokemon they catch.

Pokemon Go Limited Research To Feature Clamperl For The First Time

As for Clamperl, this Pokemon has two potential evolutions, namely, Huntail and Gorebyss. In Pokemon Go, different from other games, the players won’t have any clue in which development form Clampers would evolve. Accordingly, it would be wise to capture as many Clamperl Pokemons as you can to be sure you’ll get both its evolutions, eventually.

Also, don’t forget that until March 4th you’ll also have the opportunity to capture Shiny Meltan Pokemon any time you open a Mystery Box. Even better, now, the waiting time to open a new Mystery Box has reduced to three days so that you’ll have increased chances to grab one Shiny Melta.

Pokemon Go Limited Research featuring Clampers in premiere would take place following the next schedule:

  • The Americas and Greenland
    • 11 AM – 2 PM PT
    • 2 PM – 5 PM ET
  • Europe, Middle East, and Africa
    • 10 AM – 1 PM UTC
  • Asia-Pacific
    • 12 PM – 3 PM JST (February 24)

In short, the upcoming Pokemon Go Limited Research event would present Clamperl for the first time in Pokemon Go and would also feature other Water Pokemon, including Krabby and Wailmer.
