Steem Blockchain Froze For Nine Hours Due To A Series Of Invalid Transactions

A series of invalid transactions resulted in an error in Steem blockchain, which held the network down for approximately 9 hours, creating restlessness among the users. Nevertheless, the startup informed via its account on the social network Twitter that the bug had been fixed and that the accounts of users and their tokens were not at any time at risk.

Some of the users, the operators of the Steem nodes, pronounced themselves on the issue via the Steemit social network to provide the initial draft of what had happened, which was subsequently substantiated by an official announcement made by the Steem team.

A series of invalid transactions that a user of an account with the name @nijeah had attempted, reportedly caused the Steem blockchain to clog. It appears that the customer carried out four funds transactions, in VEST tokens, in negative numbers, such as -10,000,000,000,000 VEST.

Steem team argued that what happened is in reality due to a “protection mechanism integrated into the blockchain that prevents the invalid transaction from causing real damage.” The blockchain regulations, they claimed, ban transactions like those @nijeah tried to make, but in the present case, the blockchain failed to block them. The operations were performed seven days later, and since their completion was not authorized, the before-mentioned rules took over.

The team expressed regret that the operations were discontinued for 9 hours and affirmed that their primary concern was to secure users’ accounts and their tokens.

The game developer announced that the upcoming Community Day event is going to feature Squirtle which is one of the classic starter Pokemon that players get to choose. To make things even better, Niantic has dropped some hints which point towards the fact that players might even be able to find a special version of Squirtle in the game once the Community Day event starts.

Nonetheless, Niantic recently announced on Twitter that players who complete all the Field Research Tasks during the July Community Day will be able to encounter a special Squirtle that wears sun glasses. This Squirtle is referring to the classic Pokemon animated show that had a gang of “cool” Squirtles which wore sun glasses at all times.

Moreover, Niantic also announced that a new set of Field Research tasks will become available once the event kicks off and that they will be focused on the Kanto region which is the latest region to be added in the game.

TRON Locks 33.25 Billion Tokens Until 2020

The TRON Foundation launched its own mainnet on June 25, but no one knew what it was going to be used for. Fortunately, we don’t have to speculate anymore since the TRON Foundation made a shocking announcement today! The company let everyone know that it locked up more than 33.25 billion tokens in 1,000 addresses which are located on the TRON mainnet.

The company announced that more than 33.25 billion tokens are going to stay hidden away in 1,000 addresses until January 1, 2020. The reason why the TRON Foundation is doing this is quite simple, the company wishes to reduce the token availability.

There were 100 billion of tokens when TRON launched and one billion got burned right after the mainnet arrived. Justin Sun who is the founder of TRON announced that he felt “distressed to witness the burn of $50 million worth of tokens, the TRON Foundation had no turning back for the better development of TRON community”.

Developing a Query Tool

We should mention that out of the original 100 billion tokens, there are only 65.75 million in circulation while 33.25 billion are going to stay locked away. Nonetheless, the developers of TRON announced that they are currently working on a query tool which TRON investors can use in order to check the 1,000 mainnet addresses where the 33.25 billion tokens are locked away.
