Pokemon Sword and Shield Might Be Compatible With Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO is a mobile game developed and released by Niantic, available for Android and iOS. It was launched in 2016, gaining popularity extremely fast. By the end of 2016, Pokemon GO had been downloaded more than 500 million times by users all around the world. Pokemon Sword and Shield is one of the most expected releases of the year, having been officially announced on Pokemon Day, February 27, 2019, during a Nintendo Direct announcement.

At 2017’s E3 conference, Tsunekazu Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pokemon Company, announced their next game series would be released on Nintendo Switch, but no more information was divulged at the time.

Game Freak is the leading developer of Pokemon games for Nintendo, which also develops Pokemon Sword and Shield for Nintendo Switch. Rumors say the developer is planning to make Pokemon GO compatible with the newest release of the franchise.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Might Be Compatible With Pokemon GO

A Pokemon GO dataminer, Chrales, found evidence to back up the rumors of the potential compatibility between Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon GO. Chrales discovered that while looking through the game’s code of the latest Pokemon GO 0.143.0. He came upon a new string referred to as “koala_settings,” which seem to be made for a separate app. The source says the name “koala.”

Chrales believes that “koala” might be the codename internally used to refer to Pokemon Sword and Shield. We already know Game Freak has a habit of matching each game with an animal or natural element, so the theory seems plausible. For example, Game Freak’s previous release, Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee, went by the codename “beluga.”

None of the two developer companies made any official announcement yet, so the rumors that Pokemon Sword and Shield would be compatible with Pokemon GO should be taken with a grain of salt. However, we hope they are correct, as the possibility to connect Niantic’s augmented reality mobile game to Game Freak’s newest console game sounds extremely exciting.

Pokemon Go: New Eevee Evolutions, Leafeon and Glaceon, Might Come To The Game

In recent months, Pokemon Go players received a steady of Gen 4 Pokemon, but two of them failed to make an appearance. We are talking about Leafeon and Glaceon, the Grass-type and Ice-type evolutions of Eevee. Fans who were looking forward to these particular evolutions will be happy to learn that they may be added in a future update, according to a leak released by a reliable source.

Chrales is a popular dataminer known for leaking new Pokemon Go features before they were announced. The dataminer discovered text which will be used for three types of Lure Modules. The Glacial Lure module will attract cold-loving Pokemon; the Mossy Lure will get the attention of those which appreciate mossy smells and the Magnetic Lure will be irresistible for magnetic Pokemon.

It seems that each of these New Lure modules can trigger an evolution in the case of specific Pokemon, and this mechanism could allow Pokemon Go Trainers to obtain Glaceon and Leafeon among other Pokemon.

Pokemon Go might soon get new Eevee evolutions – Leafeon and Glaceon

Players of the mainline Pokemon games know that you can evolve these into one of these Pokemon if you use an Ice or Moss Rock. A similar rule is available for Pokémon like Magneton and Probopass. Players who wish to unlock their final forms, Magnezone and Probopass, will have to use a magnetic field. The Lure Modules aim to emulate these conditions for Pokemon Go.

Niantic didn’t announce the new feature, such fine details like an exact release day and how they can be acquired remain shrouded in mystery.

While waiting for them, Pokemon Go players have the chance to capture a new Gen 4 Legendary Pokemon by joining a Raid Battles. The iconic Lake guardians trio, composed of Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie will appear in Gyms until May 27th. Keep in mind that each one is locked to a specific region. A limited Detective Pikachu event is available until May 17th.

Pokémon Go To Get The Lake Guardian Trio: Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie

Pokémon Go fans are excited after Niantic released a teaser via its official Twitter account. The image shows three silhouettes over a lake and flowers. It is accompanied by a message which notes that unidentified Pokémon monsters have been spotted, urging players to look after them in an attempt to observe anything unusual.

Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie, The Lake Guardian Trio, To Come To Pokémon Go

Veteran fans of the franchise know that we are looking at the Lake Guardian Trio, excellent water Pokémon which were missing when Gen 4 was released. Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie are quite impressive, and those who played the original games or watched the show will remember that they can be quite fun to use.

Pokémon Go may have have been released in the summer of 2016, but the popular free-to-play mobile game managed to attract millions of players from all over the world with more than 850 million downloads.

Pokémon Go is one of the most played games ever

The game allows players to become Pokémon trainers, and create a vast collection of Pokémon which can be collected, trained and use to show their might against other trainers. Players have the chance to catch iconic Pokémon like Pikachu, Venusaur, and Charizard.

When a Pokémon is found you will have to throw a Poké Ball at it. Move fast, or the Pokémon will escape, and you will have to search for another one. You will have to take some long walks since certain Pokémon favor a specific environment. For example, water Pokémon will tend to appear near lakes and rivers.

If you need more resources, you can always visit a gym or a PokéStops, often located near essential sites like museums, monuments, and others.

At this point, it is not clear when they will be released or how. Some believe that they will be offered during a new raid while others anticipate a special research event. It is likely that they will pose a challenge for trainers. The entire experience is available for free, but players have the option to pay for consumable items.

Niantic Labs has recently announced next month’s Community Day, adding details about the Pokemon that will be featured during the event.

Pokemon Go: May Community Day

The event will take place on Sunday, May 19, and it will run for three hours, as usual. It will start at 3 PM and end at 6 PM local time. During those three hours, players can earn three times more Stardust for every Pokemon they get to catch. Lure Modules will also get boosted to be active for three hours.

The incoming Community Day will feature a Gen 3 Pokemon – Torchic. This Gen 3 Pokemon, is a Fire-type monster that will appear in the wild more often than normal so that players can easily add it to their collection.

Looking back at the past Community Day events, players should also have a chance at catching a Shiny Torchic. If you can evolve a Torchic into Blaziken up to 7 PM during the Community Day event, you will earn an exclusive move. So far, Niantic hasn’t revealed the special move. However, we should learn about it in the week of the event.

For more information on the event, go to the official Pokemon website.

Current Events – Eggstravaganza, Shiny Meltan

Until the Community Day in May begins, here’s what you can do:

Catch a Shiny Buneary and hatch as many baby Pokemon as you can, because the Pokemon annual Eggstravaganza event will end on April 23.

Also, you can catch the rare Mythical Pokemon Shiny Meltan if you open a mystery box that you can get from Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu or Eevee (you just have to own a game or know someone who owns the game to transfer you on Pokemon from those games to Pokemon Go). You can open the Mystery Box starting with April 24 – 4 PM ET, until May 5 – 4 PM ET. A Meltan might appear once you open the box, and it can even be Shiny!
