PlayStation 4 Might Crash Due To Malicious Message

On Reddit and other social networks, many PlayStation 4 owners reported that a malicious message that contains a string of characters might cause Sony consoles to freeze and crash. On some occasions, PlayStation 4 crashes so badly that only a factory reset can make it work once again.

This kind of malicious message is common on mobile platforms where many such attacks have been recorded over the time, the most recent one affecting WhatsApp instant messaging application. This one, however, is the first such case registered on PlayStation 4 consoles. If the threat is indeed real, then Sony will quickly release a firmware update to tackle the issue.

However, until Sony fixes this bug, you can avoid getting your PS 4 messed up by the malicious message using some of the methods presented below. But keep in mind that these are just temporary solutions against the issue, as everything will be solved out when Sony will launch the firmware update.

PlayStation 4 Might Crash Due To Malicious Message – Here’s How To Avoid That

First, you can bypass the issue by opening any messages you receive directly with the PlayStation Messages app for Android or iOS instead of using your console to read your messages.

Also, you can restrict messages on your PlayStation 4 to avoid getting that malicious one. You can do that by either going to this link and selecting Personal Info -> Messages section or by accessing Settings -> Account Management -> Privacy Settings -> Choose Personal Info -> Messages using your PlayStation 4 console.

From there, you have to opt for “Friends Only.” That would mean that only your friends can send you messages. You can also select “No One” option which means that nobody would be able to send you messages.

According to Sony, in case you’ve already been affected by the malicious message, you can boot your PlayStation 4 in Safe Mode and rebuild the database, a process which shouldn’t delete your saved data.

0x (ZRX) Included On the Coinbase Pro Platform, Finally

On Thursday, October 11th, 0x (ZRX) experienced a significant price increase after the crypto token got listed on the Coinbase Pro trading platform. According to the Coinbase Pro general manager David Farmer, trading activities with the new 0x (ZRX) pairs will only be available within a day.

Although the cryptocurrencies market is experiencing another significant correction, the inclusion of the ZRX token on Coinbase Pro boosted the digital asset’s market capitalization, as well as its value against the US Dollar. At the moment of this writing, 0x (ZRX) totals a market cap of $412,261,486. Also, at this moment, 0x (ZRX) trades at $0.76 after surging by about 15% in the last 24 hours.

The exchange of 0x (ZRX) for USD, EUR, or Bitcoin (BTC) on Coinbase platform would become available after the digital asset reaches a specific level of liquidity. However, it won’t yet be available on the regular Coinbase or in the crypto exchange’s wallet app, according to the statement, published this Thursday.

Coinbase Pro platform added 0x (ZRX)

“We will accept deposits at least 12 hours before enabling commerce. Once sufficient liquidity is established, trading will begin on the ZRX/USD, ZRX/EUR and ZRX/BTC trading pairs. 0x (ZRX) trading will be accessible to users in most jurisdictions, but initially will not be available to residents of New York State,” said David Farmer, Coinbase Pro General Manager.

Trading pairs involving 0x (ZRX) would be in a limit mode for a minimum of 10 minutes. Finally, all the trading options will be activated, with all the services of the platform, as well as limit orders, market orders, and scheduled purchases or sales.

0x project is a decentralized protocol based on Ethereum (ETH) network. In August last year, it raised $24 million during its Initial Coin Offering (ICO), despite criticism regarding its protocol. Back then, the researchers from Cornell Tech carried out an investigation and pointed out some shortcomings, both in the cryptocurrency and the 0x protocol.

App Store Revenue Was By 93% Higher Than Google Play Store In Q3 2018

Consumer spending on both Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store summed up about $18.2 billion in the third quarter of 2018, as reported by the mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower. According to the research firm, that figure represents a 22.7 percent increase over the $14.8 billion spent across both mobile apps stores during Q3 2017.

App Store Revenue Was By 93% Higher Than Google Play Store In Q3 2018

Also, Sensor Tower reported that App Store revenue was by 93 percent higher than Google Play Store in the third quarter of this year. More specifically, about 66 percent of overall mobile app revenue recorded in Q3 2018 came from apps sold on App Store, the iOS-based applications library. That percentage means that App Store sold by about 23.3 percent more than in the same period of the last year.

On the other hand, Google Play Store scored only $6.2 billion in Q3 2018, globally (excluding China), meaning that the Android’s app store sold by 21.5 percent more than during Q3 2017 when it marked revenue of approximately $5.1 billion.

App Store Vs. Google Play Store – Which Apps Generated Most Revenues?

According to Sensor Tower, Netflix was the top-earning non-game mobile application for both Android and iOS app stores, scoring revenues of about $243.7 million across, globally. Next, comes Facebook with its WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger apps, but only regarding the number of downloads.

As for mobile games, Sensor Tower reported that, globally, mobile game spending increased by 14.9 percent during Q3 2018 reaching $13.8 billion. That means the mobile games totaled for 76 percent of all the app revenue generated across both the App Store and Google Play. Also, as reported by the researchers from Sensor Tower, top-three mobile games regarding the profits they made are Honor of Kings (a.k.a Arena of Valor, outside of China), Monster Strike and Fate/Grand Order, respectively.

On this aspect, Google Play Store outperformed App Store by about $5 billion.

Fortnite 6.02 Update Brings the new Quadruple Launcher and Disco Domination New Game Mod

The Fortnite 6.02 update didn’t bring anything particularly new, but it could end up with a significant upgrade. Epic Games introduced the Quadruple Launcher this Wednesday and added yet another explosive weapon to the game, the Noble Launcher for the Save the World mode. Fans aren’t overly fond of explosives, and it could be said that the Quadruple Launcher will set off the alarms of the most skeptical gamers.

The developer has also kept their promise to release a new game mode that will be available for a reduced amount of time. Disco Domination will allow players to exploit to the maximum the dance skills of the protagonists. It could be tested more than a week ago and is now available to all players.

Among the most important new features, it is the return of the Port-a-Fortress after it was quickly eliminated before the sixth season, specifically on September 28th. The loot item only lasted about ten days when it was initially added to the arsenal, so some players will probably expect a slightly more extended trial period on this occasion.

Fortnite 6.02 update brings the Quadruple Launcher

Apart from the mentioned additions, the update doesn’t bring many changes to the game. The developers have adjusted the levels of several loot zones, but no object has received a drastic change that could alter the game too much. Overall, the 6.02 update doesn’t contain many surprises.

However, Epic Games added the Quadruple Launcher, a weapon that can unbalance the game. The explosives haven’t been very well received by the community recently, and many of them talk about the dominant power of this type of weapon. With another rocket launcher, it would be difficult for players to overcome their enemies who use such a gun.

In addition to the before-mentioned add-ons, Fortnite 6.02 Update also came out with some bug fixes and performance enhancements.

October Xbox Update Brings Revamped Avatars and Dolby Vision Support, Among Others

Microsoft has just announced that its October Xbox update for its renowned video games console is now available and brings revamped avatars and Dolby Vision support.

October Xbox update brings revamped avatars and other features

The primary novelty of the new update is the introduction of the new, revamped Xbox avatars, initially announced by Microsoft in 2016. The enhanced avatars offer greater customization options, especially regarding diversity and accessibility. The revamped Xbox avatars, including different body types, wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs, can be accessed via the “Closet” section under the Avatar Editor menu.

Also, the Avatar Store would now permit users to acquire some new outfits and other equipment for their Avatars, such as items inspired by the Halo and Gears of War franchises. According to the official Microsoft Xbox site, new content would be added to this section on a monthly basis.

As Microsoft reported, users can still use the original avatars if they want that, as the older avatars would remain available in the Xbox Original Avatars. Also, the new Photo Booth mode will allow users to place their avatars in various poses and backgrounds to come up with pics that can be useful as profile pictures.

October Xbox update also comes with Dolby Vision support

The new Xbox update also adds Dolby Vision to the Xbox One, Dolby’s high-dynamic range (HDR) format. Until now, the Xbox One used HDR 10 support, which is actually the current standard, but the new Dolby Vision is meant to bring more vivid color schemes. For example, the same technology is now used by Netflix apps on several compatible TVs, as well as by Apple TV 4K and the Google Chromecast Ultra.

Accordingly, Xbox One, thanks to the recent October Xbox update, becomes the third streaming device to support Dolby Vision, besides Apple TV 4K and Google Chromecast Ultra.
