AT&T and Verizon To Launch Red Hydrogen One on Friday, November 2nd

AT&T announced that it would launch its new Red Hydrogen One, the world’s first holographic smartphone, on Friday, November 2nd, with an exclusive offer.

AT&T and Verizon To Launch Red Hydrogen One on Friday, November 2nd, with exclusive offers

Red Hydrogen One is the first smartphone produced by the cinema camera manufacturer Red, which would also be the first holographic smartphone in the world. It would cost $43.17 for a 30-month contract with eligibility for AT&T’s upgrade service Next, as reported by Android Authority. That means the total cost of the new device would be $1,295.10.

Verizon will also release Red Hydrogen One on Friday but with a different plan. According to Android Authority, Verizon would sell the world’s first holographic smartphone for $53.95 per month for 24 months, totaling a cost of $1,294.80 at the end of the contract.

Red Hydrogen One Is the World’s First Holographic Smartphone

Red Hydrogen One’s main feature is the proprietary display technology called “4-View” (4V) which is designed to create a holographic experience for the first time in the world of smartphones. According to those who witnessed this function, “4-View” generates an interesting visual effect, even though is not like what we see in SciFi movies as nothing pops out of the screen.

Instead, the holographic effect of Red Hydrogen One is more related to screen depth than to an actual hologram. “4-View” would permit you to see different angles of an image on display depending on how you hold the handset.

Also, the 4V technology would be useless without the implication of devs and content producers. To take advantage of the “4-View” holographic technology, apps creators, as well as content makers, must come up with 4-View-compatible products. Besides, according to AT&T, a series of 4V-compatible movies would also be available once the Hydrogen Network is up and live.

IBM Acquired Red Hat For $34 Billion To Strengthen Its Position In Hybrid Cloud Sector

IBM has just made the most significant purchase in its history as the renowned technology company acquired Red Hat, the famous open source company, for $34 billion, in an attempt to diversify its hardware and consulting businesses with products and services that generate higher profitability.

That is also the third most significant acquisition in the United States in the area of technology. IBM announced the news through a press release while Red Hat informed about the purchase through its Twitter account.

IBM currently has a market capitalization of $114 billion and will pay $190 in cash for each share of Red Hat, that is, 62% above the closing price of the value of the shares of the free software company last Friday.

“Joining forces with IBM will give us a greater level of scale, resources, and capabilities to accelerate the impact of open source as the foundation for digital transformation and bring Red Hat to an even wider audience while preserving our unique culture and an unwavering commitment to open source innovation,” said Jim Whitehurst, Red Hat CEO.

IBM Acquired Red Hat For $34 Billion, But Red Hat Would Remain the Same Open Source Company

Red Hat will maintain its independence and operate as a distinct unit within the IBM Hybrid Cloud team. A hybrid cloud is an integrated service that uses both in-house and third-party clouds to solve different functions within an organization.

“IBM will become the world’s first provider for hybrid clouds, providing companies with the only open cloud solution that will unlock the full value of the cloud for their business,” said Ginni Rometty, the IBM CEO, who also believes that the Red Hat acquisition will change the technology and cloud landscape.

IBM’s purchase of Red Hat means that the company would finally be able to compete with other tech businesses that offer cloud services, such as Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft. Both IBM and Red Hat expect to close the transaction during the second half of 2019.

Microsoft’s Bing Returned Malware To Those Willing To Download Google Chrome

Even though Microsoft may not like it, as it’s trying to make more and more people use Microsoft Edge, some users download Google Chrome from Bing, Microsoft’s search engine. What’s strange is that Bing returned a malware as a search result, something that Microsoft has been aware of and, allegedly, fixed.

Users who have used Bing to search for how to download Google Chrome have come across malware. It was an ad which ranked ahead of organic results. So many users have fallen into that trap and accessed the malicious link. Microsoft has already solved the problem, as they reported, but it is unknown how many users have been affected. More concerning, however, is that once again the attackers have managed to bypass the security filters of the Redmond-based company, this time directly within Bing, its search engine.

Users who tried downloading Google Chrome from Bing bumped into malware

The malicious ad looked like an organic search result, something that is legitimate, and it was looking like linking to the official Google.com site. But, in reality, the cyberattacker was actually redirecting visitors to googleonline2018.com and offered a Google Chrome version infected with malware. While that malicious link was blocked by the Google search engine automatically, Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, and the Microsoft Edge Internet browser took no action against the URL in question.

Microsoft has stated that “protecting customers from malicious content is a priority,” so they have already removed the ad that was redirecting users to a Google Chrome version infected with malware.

What is even more worrying is that this is not the first time throughout this year when Bing shows malicious results to users looking for downloading Google Chrome. On the other hand, in the Windows 10 store, apps that use phishing techniques to deceive users by pretending to be a well-known company have also infiltrated too often in 2018.
